Tiger Pride

A Funny Addie Story

Yesterday Addie told me that “tomorrow and every Friday” is Tiger pride day so we all have to wear our Tiger T-shirts today. We did . . she went to school with her Tiger T-shirt on and I’m wearing mine.

Then I started thinking that I need to make her a tiger hat using school colors. I found this tiger hat pattern, which she probably isn’t going to like because their school tiger looks like he’s ready to pounce on someone and the tigers on the hat look friendly. This one is made using aran weight yarn. If the yarn isn’t going to be here til Tuesday at the earliest, aran weight might mean I can get it finished before I leave.

Then I found this tiger beanie, which looks more like their tiger but this is an adult size pattern with fingering weight yarn. I can probably use the stitch count for the first pattern, use aran weight yarn and use just one tiger in the front. It will be bigger than those shown on the pattern (aran vs. fingering weight).

I’m not going to mention it to her in case I get neither of them done but I’ll try to get at least one of them made.

Here’s the yarn I ordered:

Yarn for Hats

I went ahead and got fingering and aran weight yarn. So long as they stay here, she’ll be a tiger all the way through school – elementary, middle and high school all have the same mascot so I see lots of burgundy and gray tigers in my knitting plans for the next 13 years.

Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that the yarn arrives Tuesday.

You should look for just the tiger stripes for the hat. I think it would work up a bit faster, and it tiger stripes would stand out more. Just a thought! I’m sure she’ll love it, regardless of which one you decide on.

The tiger with the snarl is their mascot so I think she’ll be thrilled with that hat for sure.

Will the school allow her to wear the hat in the building? I know schools which don’t because it becomes a distraction.

They sent home the dress code, what is and isn’t allowed. Hats/caps are fine . . not sure if they can be worn in the classroom but they’re fine to wear to school.
