Who knows what thrums are? It has nothing to do with musical instruments. Just to set the record straight, you never have to even think of me and a musical instrument in the same sentence unless radio, ipod or Pandora count as musical instruments.
Here’s a good article about thrums when it comes to knitting. I’ve been wanting to try “thrumming” and one of the girls in our Tuesday knitting group got me more interested so after finishing up the Undulance socks, I decided to try thrumming. Addie wants mittens so I thought I would try these socks and if that works, I’ll make her some thrummed mittens, knowing that from now on, she’ll probably only want thrummed mittens.

I’m just knitting in little pieces of this roving. Very Pink has a wonderful video on how to do thrumming and this is the way I’m doing it. This is my first time to try it and I’ve already done two rows. The second row went much faster than did the first. Hoping the third row goes even faster!

These are going to be more like slippers than socks and this winter, when my feet are cold, I will probably need a dozen pairs of these!

Sometimes, well a lot of times, your posts kill me. When I read “thrumming” I thought it was a new beat I could play on my Djembe. Hmm….guess not. But I do like those socks. Addie ill love socks and mittens that were thrummed.

One of the ladies in my online knit group who lives in the Minnesota north country made her husband thrummed mittens last year. I was thinking they would be so cozy to have, but haven’t tried any yet. Your socks are looking good.

Thrums are a very personal choice. Thrummed mittens give me the absolute Willies. Feels like bugs inside the mitts but that is just me maybe?

Well I sure don’t understand this post at all. Are you adding this fuzzy stuff to the inside someway? The way the socks look they will be fuzzy inside and warmer. Sorry but not being a knitter photo is confusing but hey doesn’t take much to confuse me these days.
