The first baby that I found Saturday didn’t make it. I went out later in the day and the mama had pushed him over to the side after he died so I removed him.
Yesterday I went out several times to check to see if there were babies and of course, I had my phone with me.
It may not be a good idea for me to show a video of me talking to a chicken! At one point, I turn to the hen in the next nest over and ask her if she has any babies. No response but I also didn’t hear any baby chick sounds coming from that nest.
You have to look really closely on her left side almost just below her head and you can see his little head.
Baby chicks are so cute but darn it . . those mama hens are so protective and I have enough bruises that I’d probably better leave them all alone.

Well, if we’re not supposed to talk to our chickens then I’m in big trouble! One of our guineas is sitting on 12 eggs. We’re worried about them because she made her nest out in the horse pens and those baby guineas will be running around with the barn kitties.
Hope you have a whole flock of babies in the next few days!

Careful. Mother hens can be vicious!
