These are the slowest going socks ever! It’s because I want to be working on something else but I’m hard headed enough to stick with it til I get them finished . . I hope!
The foot needs to be 7.25″ before I start shaping the toe. I knitted for hours last night, not letting myself stop and measure. When it was time for bed, I guessed I would have knitted 4.5″ from the heel. NO! 3.25″.
The pattern isn’t hard. The yarn is skinnier than some sock yarn so that makes it take a bit longer. It’s just my attitude. I want to be done with them. I keep telling myself that it’s ok to put them aside and work on something else but that’s not true. I have to get these done.
My plan is to continue working down the foot in the pattern and by Tuesday, when I go to knitting, if I haven’t gotten down to about 7″ where I can stop the pattern and start doing plain knitting, I’m doing it anyway so I can take these to knitting and get them done.
There’s a good chance, if I have much knitting time today or tomorrow, that I can get those last 4″ done. Maybe.
Don’t let me stop til I’m done! 🙂

I’m about to enter the world of sick knitting. Can I ask why you do top down two at a time rather than tie up two at a time? I’m thinking I would then have the option of making them higher if I have yarn or I can stop when I run out of yarn. I’m concerned about getting all the way close to the toe and running out of yarn. What are your preferences and why? I’m learning so much from your knitting posts and figure I must be missing something here.

Sock, not sick knitting!

Toe up and not tie up. Obviously, I haven’t had enough coffee yet and didn’t proofread. Sorry….

I definitely prefer toe up two at a time. I can use my hand to measure where I need to place my heel. I think it’s just a matter of personal preference. Most patterns are written top down. I either reverse the patterns or just knit the pattern upside down. I do like to be able to knit my sock till the yarn runs out sometimes.

At least they will both get done together! I do top down on double points so once one is done I have to begin again on sock number two. It could be worse!! Hang in there.

I’m sure you are ready for Tuesday knitting already!
