Just received the shipping notice for my three orders placed closely together.
Yarn Orders
There was a time when every yarn order was for sweater quantities or dozens of skeins of yarn. Three orders and together, they don’t add up to the amount of yarn I used to order with just one order. Better yet, they all have a purpose and will be used soon!
Yarn Orders:
- Order #1 – ESK got in more String Theory Continuum. I have a sock pattern I want to make but it has to have a specific stripe sequence. The String Theory Continuum works with the stripes that are bordered by black. Say there’s a red stripe that’s 6 rows wide, then a black stripe that’s 2 rows wide, then a yellow stripe that’s 6 rows wide, then a black stripe that’s 2 rows wide. I had been waiting for some of that so it arrived and I ordered a couple of skeins of that.
- Order #2 – I’ve already told you that I was lucky to find more Madelinetosh Vintage in Oak at ESK and that I ordered four more skeins and if that matches, it will be enough for me to make the “It Takes a Guild” sweater using the yarn I wanted to use.
- Order #2 – There’s a sweater I’ve been wanting to make that holds two different laceweight yarns together. One is a regular laceweight and the other is the very fine Silk Cloud (mohair/lace). I have the Silk Cloud in Imperial but they never got in the other laceweight in Imperial. I have the other lace weight in Apple but needed the Silk Cloud in Apple. How many apple green sweaters can a girl have? That kept me from ordering the Silk Cloud in Apple. I needed 4 skeins. They were down to 4 skeins and who knows when they will get more in so a couple of weeks ago, I ordered (or thought I ordered) 4 skeins of Silk Cloud in Apple. As I was putting the yarn in project bags this morning, shortly after ordering the Madelinetosh Vintage and I could only find 1 skein of Silk Cloud in Apple. Went back to the invoice. Yep, I had only ordered 1 skein. Lucky for me, there were still 3 skeins left so I ordered those.
This is an example of why I’ve always said I am not ever going to commit to buying NO fabric or NO yarn. When you truly need something and you’ve been waiting to get it or need a few skeins to complete a big project, I don’t see a problem with getting it, so long as it isn’t going to break the bank.
All three of those orders are yarns I will use in the very near future and I don’t feel any of this was frivolous buying.

I’m patiently waiting to place my birthday order this week. Hopefully I won’t get cartjacked. Impatiently waiting for Wendy’s Wonders to open her site back up too. Scratch that, I just looked at she’s back open!!! Gotta go shopping.

That’s a big reduction in yarn orders, and I’ve noticed that you go to your stash first all the time now, if you think there’s something that might work. Retirement shopping. =)

I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t really “need” anything. However, when I do find something on line (back surgery makes on line ordering my go to), I buy it for myself. When Christmas or my birthday comes around, I tell my husband that he was very generous! Works for both of us. I always say my quilting is cheaper than therapy and knitting is too! I look forward to seeing your projects…one of these days, I hope to be knitting myself!
