Just went out to check to see if I could see baby chicks. I can hear them. I’d say three so far but I can’t get her up to see.
She’s sitting on so many eggs, she can’t even keep them all covered.
There’s another hen sitting on eggs and hers should start hatching today but I don’t hear babies chirping under her yet.
I want to see the babies but I’m not willing to get pecked again.

Your nasty hen is beautiful! Brings back memories for me. My mother raised chickens in a suburb of Los Angeles during WWII, and my special chicken was a Plymouth Rock hen. My sister’s was a Rhode Island Red.

She knows she was meant to be a Mother of Many Chicks.

She may be nasty but she is pretty!

So that egg that’s an outlier … will it survive?
Cindi says
Does she bring them any food? If not, how soon do they have to go out and start looking for food?
