Socks in progress – that’s what’s going with me to our knitting group today. Being able to put down a shawl project that requires a lot of attention, and knit socks is relaxing, even in the midst of lots of noise and laughter. Our little group is funny, talkative, friendly and loud. Trying to work on a difficult knitting project while with this group can become an effort in futility. More times than I want to remember, I’ve come home after knitting group and ripped out everything I did due to numerous mistakes. Therefore, a simple project for knitting group day with my friends is imperative. We’re all there more for the social aspect than to actually accomplish a tremendous amount on our projects.
The project going to knitting with me today is my bright, green socks. Those socks will result in happy feet! I love this green. These are plain vanilla socks with the heel turned already. Only the foot is left to finish and that’s straight knitting with no counting, no pattern, no adding or subtracting til I get to the toe. Even the toe construction and the kitchener stitch can be done without much thought, should I should get that far.
The yarn is Blue Moon’s Tigger Targhee. The color is Zesty. My Ravelry page says the pattern is Toe Up Socks With a Difference and it’s a free pattern. But, obviously, these socks are NOT toe up. Classic Socks for the Family is probably the correct pattern. That’s also the very first pattern I used when I started knitting socks and I have it pretty much memorized.
Hand knitted socks is what got me back into knitting in 2006 after having not touched knitting needles in 25 or more years. I haven’t kept up with how many pairs of socks I’ve made through the years. I’ve given away numerous pairs of socks. Almost everyone wears socks and who wouldn’t enjoy a pair of hand knitted socks? Socks are still one of my favorite things to knit.
While you’re reading this, I’ll be at the knitting group. Hopefully, this evening I’ll have finished socks to share here. These socks were started in April so it’s time they get finished. Whether or not they get finished, I will have a great time with my knitting group.

That sounds like a plan: keep a simple project just for knitting group, so you won’t have to frog something later! Didn’t Addie want some hats and mittens? I seem to remember that, but maybe you’ve already made them. You knit so much faster than I crochet! Your socks look great!

That is a great sock pattern.
