Remember the other day when I wanted to make the Elton Cardigan? I found some of the yarn I needed in the stash but I had to purchase a bit more yarn to make it work. I ended up having to order a few skeins from the UK to try to keep from ordering a lot of yarn. Here’s that blog post in case you missed it.
It is no secret that Vince is very vocal about my yarn purchases. It is understandable. There’s really too much yarn in this house.
The fuzzy yarn is Hedgehog Kid Silk Lace and the color is Ghost. The other yarn is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock and the color is Mirth. I have one skein and I need three so that’s why I ordered yarn from the UK. That’s the only place I could find it.
In this pattern, lace and fingering weight yarns are held together. Ideally, maybe, I would have used Hedgehog Sock in Ghost for the fingering weight yarn but (1) I would have needed to order four skeins (instead of the three I ordered from UK) . . don’t ask me to explain why that made sense (2) Most importantly, neither The Loopy Ewe or Eat, Sleep, Knit had Hedgehog Sock in Ghost.
Fast forward . . yesterday afternoon we had to go to town. We were sitting and waiting and I was looking at Ravelry on my phone (bad wife!) and ESK had restocked Hedgehog sock and had Ghost in stock. I don’t keep my credit card with me. It’s just for ordering a few things online.
Unexpected Conversation with Vince:
Me: Oh, crap!
Vince: What?
Me: Eat, Sleep, Knit has a yarn in that I wanted.
Vince: How many skeins do you need?
Me: 4 (like he has ANY idea how much a skein costs!)
Vince: Order it!
Me: No. I don’t have my credit card with me and by the time we get home, it will be gone.I
Vince: Order it. Here’s my credit card!
Me: I don’t really need it. I found some yarn that will work (not mentioning I had to buy some of it).
Vince: I insist . . buy the yarn.
He handed me his credit card.
Later he said: Did you purchase the yarn? I said yes. He said “All four skeins?” I said yes. End of conversation. Something isn’t right . . I’m telling you . . this can’t really be my husband saying this.
My guess is he ordered something fairly big yesterday or he wants to order something big and he hasn’t told me about it yet.
Any time Vince insists I purchase yarn . . something is NOT right! 🙂
By the way, late last night, ESK still had some Ghost sock yarn in stock. But, you never know, right? The truth, is that I don’t even know if I’m going to like the Ghost fingering weight yarn better than I like the Lorna’s Laces yarn. The truth also is . . Vince will never know which yarn I used. Furthermore, he will never even remember which yarn it is that I purchased with his credit card. Hopefully, when he gets the bill, he will remember that he suggested I use his credit card.

I was thinking the same thing – either he wants something or he already bought something. That’s what I would think if my husband told me to buy yarn. I hope you like whatever it is!

LOL, I thought the same. What did he buy or what did he do……

You guys are just so funny. I love the colour and can’t wait to see the finished sweater.

Hope you keep us informed as to what Vince ordered so that he wanted you to order yarn. Could be interesting.
Judy Laquidara says
Oh, I will let you know but as of now . . nothing out of the ordinary is going on around here.

You know how I am . . it may be years (and maybe never) before you see a finished sweater.

I’m not a knitter, so I usually skip your knitting posts…but even I had to click on this one! Isn’t it joyous (and bewildering and suspicious) when our hubbies don’t needle(!) us about our fabric and yarn?!

Well, he asked for it! My guess would be you are right! Pat always does this too!! I don’t make very many purchases for myself. He doesn’t say much when I do because his camera stuff costs much more than anything I ever buy!
Amy in PA says
Oh boy, I hope you didn’t get a new weed eater! :p
dezertsuz says
Yay, Vince! Whatever his reasoning, it’s good to get the yarn.
