Free Knitting Pattern Alert:
Ausable is a gorgeous cardigan. Lots of detail but it’s bulky weight yarn so it would be way faster than knitting a cardigan using fingering weight yarn.
I love everything about the way this cardigan looks. This project takes about 1,500 yards of yarn and bulky yarn isn’t inexpensive. I immediately thought of Lorna’s Laces Cloudgate but realized this would be a $250 sweater. Not happening!
Somewhere in the stash I have a sufficient quantity of Malabrigo Mecha in Green Gray. After reading the reviews on this yarn at Ravelry, I’m not sure a 1,500+ yard sweater is what I’d want to make with Mecha. Reading the Ravelry yarn reviews is sometimes more frustrating than beneficial. While I understand it’s truly just an opinion, and everyone has one, it’s sometimes comical at the differences in opinion. Other times, it’s not so comical. One person is certain it’s the best yarn ever. The next person will never use it again . . ever! All we can do is read all the reviews and base our opinion on what seems the most reliable info.
When reading restaurant reviews, it’s the same thing. Restaurant reviews are a bit different because I’ve gone to a restaurant before and had horrible service or horrible food and the next time I go, it’s totally different. Yarn . . not so much. It should be fairly consistent but I guess, depending on the project, I can see how people would think differently about it. A cardigan for a child living in Minnesota will get worn and laundered way more than a cardigan worn by a granny in Texas!
The bottom line is . . I don’t know if I’ll make this one or not but it’s a free pattern so I grabbed it and I’m going to go dig around in the stash and see what I can find.

Thanks for finding it. It looks like a fun knit. Have you looked on Craftsy for yarn? I’ve had some luck there and prices are usually very reasonable.
