Yesterday I saw Joji Locatelli’s new pattern, Elton, and loved it. I love most all her patterns. It’s an oversized, loose fitting, lightweight cardigan. The pattern has 3/4 length sleeves, which I love but sleeve length is very adjustable. The pattern calls for a fingering weight and a mohair/silk yarn.
I went stash diving. According to my trusty spreadsheet, I knew that I have three skeins each of Ghost and Concrete in Hedgehog Kid Silk Lace.
My first thought was that I would have a gray in Madelinetosh TML that would work with the concrete so I went to the TML tub with a concrete skein but every gray I have is either too light, too dark, has a brownish tint or has more variegation than I want.
I doubted I would have anything that would go with the Ghost. Lavender just isn’t a color I buy often. The Kid Silk Lace yarn was in a miscellaneous tub because I hadn’t decided whether I should put it with lace, with Hedgehog or maybe somewhere else. As I was digging through that tub, a skein of Lorna’s Laces fell out onto the floor. When I picked that skein up with one hand, while holding a skein of the Ghost lace yarn . . perfect combination!
The fingering weight yarn (second from left) is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock and the color is Mirth. I have one skein. I could probably get by with two but I’d rather have three. I may want to make my cardi a bit longer. I began searching for another couple of skeins. Simply Sock Yarn has one skein. I searched everywhere else Google could find and the only place I could find any was at a shop in the UK. I ordered it. This is a great match for this Kid Silk yarn. It will be a perfect summer weight cardi for Missouri or all weather cardi for here (while in restaurants, meetings, doctors’ offices, etc. in the summer).
Who would have thought I could find such a perfect match in the stash. Just wish I’d had three skeins of it instead of one but hopefully the shop in the UK will come through and I’ll have what I need before I ever need it.

This is going to be beautiful! If you come across Chad’s stocking, I will still do it for you!

I love those colors! Isn’t the internet a wonder? Who would have thought you’d be able to buy yarn in the UK without leaving your home? I do love that, but not crazy about social media and what it has done to our kids. Happy knitting…I imagine it will be a couple weeks to get the yarn from the UK but it will be worth the wait!

A beautiful color match! You can probably finish something else while you wait for it. =) I do like the cardigan.
