My yarn has been chosen for the Soli dea Gloria shawl. The pattern calls for light fingering weight (the yarn they recommend 776 yards = 150 grams). I’m going to use Handmaiden’s Casbah yarn. To me, it seems light for fingering weight but 710 yards is 226 grams so it’s quite a bit heavier than the recommended yarn but I have two skeins of it and I’m using it. The color is Artichoke. I love all shades of green!

The beads . . I’m feeling a bit too conservative lately with my bead choices. While I normally want the beads to not be the first thing you see but just to add a bit of sparkle to my projects, on the last two shawls, I’ve felt like the beads were a lot of work and a lot of money and they aren’t showing up much so I thought about going with different colored beads for this project.

It’s hard to tell and the yarn color is so washed out but the one on the left is a mauvey gray, the one next to it is a bit more lavender/raspberry but with a matte finish. The one in the middle is an opal type white, very sparkly and what you can’t see is that the inside of the bead is gold and a little of that shows. The next one is the same lavender/raspberry as the one second from left but it is shiny and the far right is an emerald green and very shiny.
I really don’t know what I like best. I think I can rule out the white one in the middle and the second from left. Otherwise, it’s about a toss up.

I like both lavender/raspberry beads; the matte one better than the clear one. Isn’t it funny that many of us like one you wrote off? Maybe it’s the difference between photo and live.

I love purple and lavender, but that green is the richest look for sure. Just my opinion!
