The freeze dryer actually finished fairly early this morning but because the a/c guy was coming, I gave the freeze dryer more time. You cannot over dry the food. If it finishes and you don’t take the food out, the whole unit turns into a freezer and keeps it frozen but then you have to turn the dryer back on because you don’t want to put ice cold food into the bags or jars so, if I catch it in time, it’s easier to give it more drying time.
There’s 1/2 gallon and 1-1/2 pints of bananas; 1 quart, 2 pints and 2 half pints of cheese cake and one pint of zucchini. That’s a whole lot of food to reduce down to a few jars. It’s all so good. I had to taste it all . . maybe I tasted several pieces of banana. I love those!
Vince and I were out to day and he asked if I needed to run by the grocery store. I said “No, I have several loads for the freeze dryer ready.” He said “I was thinking you might need something to cook . . not just for the freeze dryer!” Nope . . don’t need a thing.
As soon as it defrosts, I’m going to put the zucchini in, because it’s still on the trays in the freezer, and then I’ll slice the cantaloupe up and put it on the trays and put it in the freezer so when the zucchini is done, the cantaloupe will be on the trays and it will go in next, then when it’s done, I’ll dump the corn from the freezer onto the trays and do that.
On the freeze dryer Facebook group, I will see people who say they got their machine months ago and have done 2 loads. I’m thinking . . whoa! Mine really never gets a break unless I’m gone or I’m expecting bad weather. Can’t anyone say I’m not using it enough!

You are definitely squeezing every moment and every penny of value out of that thing! For two loads, it would be an expensive toy.
