Remember when I did the post about Addie’s birthday cake that she was cutting?
When I was there, we had this talk:
Addie: Granny, did you see my birthday cake?
Me: Yes, it was a beautiful cake!
Addie: Did you see how I cut it?
Me: Yes, that was so creative!
Addie: I was trying to make a heart!
I can kinda see how she was trying to cut out a big heart shaped piece of cake, or I can at least see how she was starting out thinking she might end with a heart. I explained to her how often I’ll have something in my head and I think I can draw it just like I see it in my head but somehow, most of the time, it doesn’t actually turn out like I think it will but, even though it’s different from how I thought it was going to be, it’s still good!
A day or so later, she asked me to draw a unicorn. Seriously . . I cannot draw stick figures. I did the best I could and she said “Granny . . this is just like my cake. You thought you were going to draw a unicorn but it really looks like a cat!”
OK . . cat . . unicorn . . what’s the difference? 🙂
