Vince can fix any computer so long as it’s fixable. A “working” computer seems to mean different things to different people.
Vince is no fan of Windows. He like Linux and Chromebook. I finally gave up the fight and ordered a Chromebook. Vince has several different ones so he gave me three to try. None of them have touch screens and after having gotten used to touch screens, I kept squawking about that. He said “You can unlearn to use one just like you learned to use one!” Could but not gonna! So, he ordered me a Chromebook with a touch screen. If you never hear from me again, you’ll know I couldn’t figure out how to use it. Can’t teach an old dog new tricks, you know?
Seriously, I’m using one of Vince’s now. I still have my big desktop in the sewing room and I have the laptop I’ve been using so it isn’t like there’s nothing I can use. For using Electric Quilt, I’ll still have to go to one of those. Not sure what other Windows programs I cannot live without. It does seem that so much of what I do is Google/Chrome/Android these days.
If I screw up the Chromebook, chances are I’ll be using a paper and pencil from that day forward!
Speaking of screwing up, which comes so easily for me, while I was trying out his computer, I decided to get on Facebook and reply to a few comments . . but I forgot I was on Vince’s account. It was already open so I had to go to my posts, which was no problem since he and I are friends. Then I started doing something else, totally forgot it was Vince’s account and responded to several comments, which left a few people shaking their heads wondering why Vince was responding to them.

I have to say…that there is not a day that goes by that I don’t get a chuckle out of one of your posts! Thanks for taking the time to share with us!

Funny. Kind of like me on my son’s iPad. I could figure out how to log in to my email and Facebook, but must not have logged out properly. It was several months later when I used it again and realized I was still logged in to my email account. I wonder if he read my emails and wondered what kind of crazy woman his mother was? LOL I think that experience kind of turned me off of iPads or I’m just not a tablet type of person. I like my laptop so I can actually DO things & use programs I’m familiar with. I’ve often thought I would switch to Linux Mint if only I could use all my old familiar programs. I know there are equivalents to most of them but not all and I really don’t want to have to start from scratch learning all new ones. I know there are conversion programs to let me use some of my old Windows programs, but again, I just don’t have the desire to learn. Does that mean I’ve become an old lady set in her ways?

Paul used Linux or a version of Unix, I don’t remember, but it didn’t seem to me that it was tricky to use. When my mother board went out last year, I used my son’s Chromebook and it was okay. I think you’ll be fine. =)
