One thing I always said was that a dog would not sleep in our bed but . . Rita changed our minds. She actually rules the house so whatever Rita wants, she gets.
Rita’s been sleeping in our bed for quite a while. When I was gone, Vince went to bed earlier than we normally do. Rita now thinks she’s ready for bed about 9 p.m. The first couple of nights I was home, I said no and kept her up til we went to bed. Last night, she was totally determined . . she was not taking no for an answer. I was afraid she would get tired of waiting on us and try to get out of bed and hurt herself but, she was about to drive me nuts so I went and put her in bed.
When we started to go to bed, about two hours later, this is what we found:
She was sound asleep. I had to move her bed because she was right in my spot. I don’t think she ever knew I moved her. It’s so funny that she always sleeps on her back. And it’s funny, but aggravating, that when she decides it’s time for bed . . then it is time for bed . . NOW!

I can understand this! When our sweet MeiLi was alive, she was like Rita. When it was time for bed, it was time for bed no matter what!! LOL

Our male chihuahua is the same way. Bedtime is determined by when he is ready!

What an adorable dog. You just cannot say no to that face. My longdog crew ask to go to bed at 10 and get up at 7:30 but they all have their own crate.

We had an Irish Setter that used to do that…..she would go upstairs to the bedroom and after a little bit, she’d come back down and look at us…..go back upstairs, wait and come back down. That went on until we “gave in” and went to bed. LOL

We had a sweet boy that sat on my husband leg till it got to be 8pm. He then got down and when to bed. He had a tent he like to see in. Sweetest like boy that ever lived. My sister found him on the side of the road. Miss him soo much.

I can relate to this! mine know exactly what time they need to go out and when it is bed time! If I don’t get up on time, they let me know it!

My parents had a dog that would “stare down” visitors when it was bed time to tell them it was time to leave. It was the funniest thing, Buttons would just stand there and stare at the guests until they got the hint that it was time for bed and they needed to go. LOL

Glad to hear we aren’t the only ones controlled by our dog!

all of our dogs, throughout the years including now, get very irritated when we stay up past our bed time. They are like parents who are wanting the kids to go to sleep!
