It’s been a busy day. Dress #2 is made. Zippers have been sewn in both dresses. The hem is pinned in Addie’s dress. The hem is basted in the other little girl’s dress. the lining is hemmed in the other girl’s dress. The bodice lining is pinned down in the other little girl’s dress.
I went to Walmart this morning and bought the smallest thimble they had and it’s still too big. I’ll get another one in Joplin tomorrow.
Basically, what I have left to do is hand hem Addie’s dress, machine hem Addie’s lining, hand stitch the bodice lining on both dresses, hand stitch the opening in all four arm holes (that I left open to turn the bodice). There’s a lace piece I’m hand sewing on the front of both dresses and that’s it! I’ll be done.
This morning, I kept telling myself “I do not like sewing this kind of stuff!” and finally said . . just sit down and do it!
Considering how much I dislike doing this kind of sewing and, counting the practice pink dress I made for Addie, I’ve now done three of these slinky, ravelling dresses. Thank goodness there are people who like doing this kind of sewing . . but it isn’t me.
