Today was a necessary day of shopping – not just wandering the aisles looking for anything to buy.
This morning Nicole’s sister came over with her fiance’s niece, who will also be a flower girl. She is 2 days older than Addie (they were leaving the hospital as Nicole and Chad were going in to have Addie). That little girl tried on the practice dress I had made for Addie and it fits perfectly except for it needs to be about 2.5″ longer. Nicole’s sister decided she didn’t want the netting over the skirt, which makes it totally easier for me.
So . . off we went to Joplin in two different cars. We had things to do and didn’t know if Nicole’s sister would want to go but after having the two girls together for about 2 minutes, we decided two cars was a good idea.
First stop – Starbucks. I’m not a fan of Starbucks but I was a good sport.
Next stop – JoAnn’s. Found the fabric the bride to be wanted. Got it, some lace she wants on the waistband, I had a 60% off coupon so each dress ends up costing $22, including thread and zippers. Not bad considering the ones they were looking at buying were over $200 each.
JoAnn’s is in the mall so Nicole’s sister and the niece went off in one direction and we went the other way. We bought a few things at T. J. Maxx – Nicole needed some hair conditioner. Someone had told her that shampoo with tea tree oil might help Addie not get head lice (not going around yet but you know they will be some day!). I bought a little bottle of tea tree oil the other day but Nicole found shampoo that has tea tree oil in it.
From there we went to Old Navy. Nicole found Addie a couple of really cute pairs of shoes. I found a couple of cute shirts that were on sale. They’re the kind that will work as oversized shirts once I’ve lost more weight.
I also got a cute pair of dachshund socks there.
Then . . it was on to eat sushi.
That little Addie can flat put away the sushi. We had three trays, thinking that would be plenty for Nicole, Addie and me. No . . we almost needed a fourth tray. I think Addie was the only one of us who would have eaten more i we had gotten it and she had a kids meal with fried shrimp on a stick. She does love sushi.
Next to last stop – Hobby Lobby. I believe we’ll be making glitter slime tomorrow!
Final stop – Sam’s Club. I was looking for a little desk for Addie and wanted to show Nicole a sofa I had seen there that I thought she would like . . and she did!
It was a long day of shopping and driving but we went into each store, knowing exactly what we wanted . . got it and got out.
I hope to get to sit and knit for the rest of the day. We have leftover crack chicken from last night so, if I’m lucky, Chad will be happy to have that for dinner. Poor Chad! 🙂

As the mom of 5 Dachshunds (presently) I am partial to the Dachshund socks. My longdog crew are all mini longhairs.

I have used TeaTreeOil shampoo for years…. I like: https://www.vitacost.com/natures-gate-calming-shampoo-tea-tree-buckthorn-18-fl-oz
Nicole may be on to something: “On its own, tea tree oil was the most effective treatment tested. Tea tree oil and peppermint appeared to be most useful for repelling lice. Tea tree oil and lavender were also found to prevent some feeding by lice on treated skin.”

I love that you and Nicole shop the same way – in, get it and get out. I don’t have patience for wandering the aisles, and I never had much before, either. My sister used to drive me crazy with the all day wandering. You end with sore feet and either nothing you wanted, or lots of things you didn’t really need.

…” after having the two girls together for about 2 minutes, we decided two cars was a good idea.’ doesn’t bode well for a wedding with them together! Voice of experience here: I was a bad flower girl, fidgeting and whispering with the ring bearer. 😛

If you make the glitter slime with Borax, be cautious because some people have a reaction to it and it burns their skin. There’s stories on the web where kids’ hands have burns from the Borax.

I”m sure Chad was happy with the crack chicken cause that meant he didn’t have to cook, right?! HA

You are correct about the tea tree oil keeping lice away. Excellent idea to use it on Addie while she’s in school. Wish I’d known that years ago….

Tea Tree Oil is also good on Athlete’s foot and other fungi. Purchase pure tea tree oil.
