Having grown up in southwest Louisiana, where it seemed like it rained every day, and now in central Texas where it so rarely rains, it’s been so nice getting rain several days since I’ve been in MO. I suppose August is typically a dry month most everywhere in the south so I really appreciate getting to see, feel, smell and hear the rain.
It rained fairly hard for a few minutes this morning.
Chad has a couple of big pecan trees and some of the pecans have been falling off due to lack of rain. I hope this rain isn’t too late to save at least some of them.
The view from their living room. Nothing better than sitting on a rainy day looking out the window and nice green, grassy area with healthy looking trees. Something I definitely do not get to see at my house.

Oh my gosh!! We had the most wonderful several days of good rain here. Lots of it was gentle, soaking rain interspersed with some really torrential stuff! Think we got 4.5-5″ around here. Was glorious with the much lower temps!!

I’m in Western PA, and I’ve been told that Pittsburgh only has 72 days of sun in a year….it’s been dark for so long lately that I’m beginning to forget what the sun looks like. We’ve had rain every day for at least a couple of weeks. It’s an unusual summer, for sure! Can’t say as I enjoy the dark all the time, but the rain isn’t bad….keeps the crops growing.

That’s one of the things I missed the most after living in East Texas. It would start raining I would head to the rockers on the patio. Oh! The smell was delicious. Yes, I do miss it.

That is a nice view! We were out and about today, row by rowing, and had everything from sunshine to sprinkles to pouring rain to the Smokies doing their Great Smoky thing. It was a great day, and not impossibly humid even in the 80s.

You would not believe how green things are here after that 3 inch rain. More is forecasted for this weekend. Monday for sure. Then the temps will be in the 80’s by the time you get home! At least I hope they are right!!
