Chad and Nicole just left with Addie for the first day of school. I figured it was a mom and dad occasion so I said my goodbyes at home. They get to walk her all the way to her classroom this morning and I figured there might be some Granny tears if I tried that.
Nicole said her grandma and grandpa always picked her up at the end of the first day of school and took her to get ice cream. They’re no longer able to get out much so after school, Chad and Nicole are going to pick Addie up, go get ice cream and go to her grandparents’ house to celebrate Addie’s first day of school. They invited me and I like Nicole’s grandparents but I figured this is another time I should give them some space. There’s a fine line between getting to see Chad, Nicole and Addie as much as I’d like and making a pest of myself.
They went outside and made pictures by the front door, and then Addie came back inside . .
. . handed me a flower and said “This is for you, Granny!” I had to bite back tears. It was so nice to see her all excited about going to school. She was all smiles, bouncing around and singing. I cannot wait til she gets home so I can hear all about her day.

Have a great time at school Addie! Hang in there Granny!

I’m proud of you and the decisions you bravely made this morning. The teacher would rather have a dozen like Addie instead of those who are crying, kicking a screaming. Chad and Nicole are to be wonderful parents.

I’m proud of Addie as well as her parents. They’ve made it so much easier for the Kindergarten teacher and Addie on this first day. Take them out for ice cream on me and I will reimburse you. I’m proud of Addieas well as her attitude. She needs a big hug!

I can’t wait for her to get home and have you post all about her day.
