I know you don’t read my blog to hear about Addie but since all I’m doing is Addie 24/7, that’s about all I can think about right now.
Tonight I will go with them to meet her teacher and see her classroom. Can’t wait to see her reaction. Every day, she says “I wish school started today.”
Last night we had those crabs for dinner. During the night, she woke me up banging on my back and saying “Granny! Get it! Get it!” I asked her what I needed to get and she said “Crabs! There are 2 crabs right there!” and she was pointing to the wall. This morning I told her that she had a funny dream last night and she didn’t remember it. I told her about the crabs and she said “That was NOT a dream . . it was real!”
Yesterday was gymnastics. I had to crop out all the other kids. I was here the end of May and went to gymnastics with her. It’s amazing to see how much she’s improved since then. She’s probably been going since about March. Nicole doesn’t notice the improvement so much since she sees it every week. Addie had already outgrown her first little gymnastics suit and we had to buy her a larger one light night.
It is amazing how shy she is. I didn’t realize it til I took her to my knitting group one day and she didn’t say a single word . . the child who never stops talking. The first time I was at gymnastics, she wouldn’t say anything to the instructor. It’s a man/woman team . . husband and wife maybe but I don’t know that for sure. He was with Addie’s group and he kept asking her questions trying to get her to talk. This was at least two months after she’d been going there. Nope, could not get one word out of her. I did see her talking to him last night and just assumed she had come out of her shell.
Chad wasn’t home from work in time to go last night so when he got home, Addie told Chad . . “I talked at gymnastics! I told him my name!” Of course, he knew her name but was just trying to get her to talk to him. I’m surprised she’s so shy. She’s been taking gymnastics about 5 months and she’s just now telling him her name.
This morning she asked me if I knew who her teacher will be (we find out tonight.
Me: No. not yet.
Addie: Then you are NOT smarter than daddy.
Me: Does dad know who your teacher is going to be?
Addie: No, but he knows everything else!
In a few years (or maybe a few days), Chad may need to remind her of this!
I’m thankful that I get to see her every few months but the day to day activities, spending one on one time with her
Yesterday I was telling Vince about the new businesses I had seen in Joplin. They have a Natural Grocer now. There are new businesses popping up everywhere. Vince said “Find a house!” We wants to look around Webb City, which is about 50 miles from Chad but I’m not finding many houses with basements and at least 10 acres in that area. He said “You may have to look a little bit north.” I said “Great. I’ll start looking 50 miles north.” He said “I am NEVER moving back to Nevada!” Being right here on the edge of Kansas and Arkansas, I can find houses there that I like but he’s ruled out both those states so .. I keep looking. My guess is Neosho, MO but when we were here in May, he was going to go to Neosho with me and look around and then decided he didn’t want to live in Neosho (I don’t even know why) and he wouldn’t go. Now he’s saying Neosho is ok.
There’s a little house next to Chad that would be the perfect house for us to have for a “vacation” home. We would have our own space could stay a month here and a month in Texas (or maybe a month and a week in Texas so we would still be Texas residents for tax purposes). One problem .. that house isn’t for sale. It isn’t huge. It has a basement. It has a garage and a carport. Both have flat driveways. Vince knows the lady who lives there. I don’t see it it being for sale any time soon. I would go tell her if she ever wants to sell, I’d be interested but I know what Vince would say. He’s already said he will not buy a house here. He even said “If they’re giving away houses there, I’m not taking one!” You know Vince . . I find that statement very hard to believe. A bargain! Something free! And he would walk away. No way!
There is actually a house in Neosho that we both like and I keep thinking I should go look at it. It has 20 acres and a basement. The problem . . it also has a second story. That’s two sets of stairs. My knee isn’t bothering me now but I remember the days when that many stairs would have been a problem. If that house is still for sale when I’m here in October, I’m going to see it.

I have problems with my right knee, and we live in a two story home with a basement. I have learned to plan my time so that I don’t have to go up and down the stairs too many times per day. DH carries the laundry baskets up and down the stairs for me too!

I love reading your Addie stories and can’t wait to do similar things with my granddaughter…who was born on Saturday! I know I have a bit of a wait before that happens, but she’s only about 40 minutes from us and we attend the same church as our daughter and her husband, so we should see her weekly. I’m so excited!

How funny. I said I wouldn’t life where I am too. Then one day about 8 years ago I told my daughter’s next door neighbor if she decided to sell let us know first. Well my soul ask her about every 6 months and reminders her. Then one day I ask she did no. Two weeks later she called got to sell have to be in Tennessee in two week . She ask you want to come look. sure but we want it . Didn’t even ask the price didn’t even look real close. Said a prayer and it was answered. Bought house and now love next door to family. We are each other but not everyday but know each other are close if they need us or we need them. It is great. So talk to lady let her know you might want just in case. Things change in life you never know what is in the plan. Pray……See what happens.

They have riding chairs you can put on stairs, or even elevators can be installed. =) A friend did that in her house for her daughter. It comes up in a closet that was upstairs and also had one downstairs, right into her room. I have stairs. I figure going up and down will keep my knees moving better than if I don’t. =)
