Day 1 and I’m happy with how I did eating yesterday. I had brought all my food for the trip with me. I stop at McDonald’s along the way for bathrooms. They’re usually right next to gas stations (those in the median of the interstate). I had my emergency Dr. Peppers with me and even though a couple of times, I said . . I’m having one . . I need it (with the storms and the tire light), I told myself . . NO! Dr. Pepper is not going to be my crutch . . not now or ever again. I didn’t drink a single one.
This may not seem like a big deal to anyone but me but right here at this spot is always where I pull over and get my first one when making this trip. I know it’s about 40 minutes from here to where I stop and get gas and have access to a bathroom but I didn’t do it this time. I thought about it . . but stayed strong. When I got to this little town, I decided to go into town and get gas at Walmart instead of at the station where I usually stop. It’s about 10 minutes farther but the gas was 12 cents a gallon less and the McDonald’s near it has much cleaner restrooms. While there, I thought . . A hot piece of sausage wouldn’t be bad and I don’t really have any breakfast foods in my cooler.
That’s probably what helped get me through the day. It was warm and tasty and different from what I had been eating all week.
Then, when I stopped about noon, I was tempted to get a hamburger without the bun but I was kinda looking forward to having what I had planned for lunch so I sat in the car and ate that.
Celery with almond butter, pepperoni, salmon/cream cheese ball and string cheese.
In the 11 hours I was on the road, I drank 4 bottles of water so, yes, there were many bathroom stops. I’ve heard that celery is calming. There’s one overpass type bridge just as I’m leaving Tulsa heading east and every time I cross it, it gets harder. I was munching on celery prior to getting to that bridge. Can’t say that it helped but I made it across.
This is a picture I didn’t even mean to take and didn’t know I took til I started looking at my pictures this morning. I can already tell my face and neck looks thinner. Probably being overly optimistic but I brought the next size smaller jeans with me too. 🙂
The plan for today is to hopefully get the car to Joplin and get it worked on. Addie and I had bacon and eggs for breakfast. Addie wants sushi and there’s plenty I can eat there. Salad and raw fish – not many carbs! Tonight Chad is boiling crabs. Should be a great day . . and I’m here in Missouri . . should be an amazing day!

I really like McDonald’s sausage patties. When I have eggs there, I always get the sausage with it. That being about once a year. LOL

I’ve been following you since a bit before you lost your mojo for quilting (not sure how long before that) but you did make some clothes for Addi anyhow this was the 1st time I’ve ever seen a picture of you. You don’t look like what I had pictured in my mind, that’s not to say you look older or young just different. And I must say you have beautiful smooth skin. I envy you.
