Yesterday began Week 2. I’ve lost a total of 5.1 pounds and that’s with having 2 Dr. Peppers last week. The most surprising things for me about the diet so far are:
- I am just not hungry. I’m having to make myself eat. I seriously don’t seem to be getting hungry and just don’t have a lot of desire for food. Yesterday evening, I looked at what I had eaten and had not had enough protein or fat and I ate a couple of slices of leftover roasted chicken, dipped in olive oil and garlic and hate a couple of good sized chunks of cheese.
- How few calories I consume when I’m not drinking Dr. Pepper. I’ve always said that it isn’t what I eat . . it’s what I drink. I know I need to eat at least 1,100 calories per day. I can fairly easily get in about 500 but it’s a struggle after that. I make sure I get to at least 1,000 and try for 1,100 but without bread, Dr. Pepper and ice cream, its rough.
I think I mentioned, or maybe I didn’t, that yesterday we were still out at lunch time and went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. I got the cobb salad (picked out the corn) with the grilled chicken and I only ate about 1/4 of it. Seriously, I could make four meals out of that salad. Tuesday my friend and I ate at the local Thai place, which has a keto menu. I brought home most of mine. Wednesday night Vince was eating something and I heated up part of my Thai food (beef with something). Vince had rice so I gave him part of my meat, I ate all I wanted with the cauliflower rice and still have enough for two meals.
Then there was this! Aldi had two cartons today. It really didn’t bother me to see it.
But, I’m betting if I had one taste of it, I would have eaten the whole half gallon!

Yes, that’s what I’ve found. One taste and then the craving is back and I want it all!
