Dear Vince . . you gotta love him.
The other day I had a 20% off coupon from some kind of Google shopping. I made the mistake of telling him about it. I should have known better. So, all this is my fault.
I had heard that most paper products where going up at least 10% so I figured . . 20% off, free shipping . . I’ll order toilet paper. I don’t like buying those big things of toilet paper at Walmart. I go so seldom (or I did before Vince retired) and it takes up room in the cart and room in the car and when I go to town, I usually need a lot of stuff. My order arrived Tuesday.
I told Vince how much I had ordered and I knew he was ordering more to use his 20% discount. His order arrived yesterday.
Let’s just say this: Based on life expectancy tables, we will be leaving toilet paper behind. 🙂

Chad Will be so thrilled with his inheritance! LOL
Judy Laquidara says
I’m sure he will be not so thrilled with a whole lot of things he finds here.

I laughed so hard when I read this mornings post. I have a friend who uses so much toilet paper, we are always asking her what the heck she is doing with it. My husband sent her an article that was in the newspaper regarding a nursing home that was having to ration tp as the residents where causing sewage issues and he suggested since rationing was starting she better start stock piling in advance. I never realized you could order it in bulk on line I’ll have to tell her.
Judy Laquidara says
Yes! You can sometimes get it for less when it’s on sale at places like Target but the closest Target is 2 hours from here and I’m not making a trip there just to fill up my car with toilet paper and then come home. There are a lot of things in this house I wouldn’t miss if we could, for some crazy reason, not get them but toilet paper . . no! I hope I never have to live without toilet paper!

You guys make me laugh. But you also remind me of my mom before she passed away. About a week or so before she died, she had me get 2 four-packs of Kleenex. As I was putting them away I noticed there were already four boxes in the cupboard. Needless to say, we siblings inherited 12 boxes of Kleenex.
Judy Laquidara says
Who doesn’t need more toilet paper and Kleenex? Those things will be a lot more useful than a lot of things Chad will find in this house.

So funny!!! Many, many, many years ago friends of ours in the Navy brought several BIG packs of toilet paper with them when they stayed with us while waiting for their house. I had NO extra place to store their TP, but, we managed to put some here, some there, etc. He told us that at one time they had run out of TP and with their family of 7, that was a disaster and one that he wouldn’t EVER have again, so, he made sure to ALWAYS have a lot of extra in case they were unable to get to a store (storms, etc.). We were living where there was snow 9 months out of the year and just “running” to the store wasn’t always possible.

My mother had Reynaud’s syndrome, which made her hands become painfully cold quite often. Therefore, she had many pairs of inexpensive gloves so that she was never without. Each spring she bought them for next to nothing and stashed them in a drawer. Also, she bought on sale in bulk, and so usually had a big stash of toilet paper unless it was about time to buy more. So, when she died last summer my siblings and I found so many pairs of gloves and a BIG box of TP. Plus, we found about 10 unopened packs of playing cards. (That was probably my dad’s doing, but he had been gone for 9 years at that point.) In addition to us “kids,” there were several adult grandchildren coming in to help. My sister and I decided we would give everyone a “lovely parting gift” of a pack of cards, a pair of gloves, and a roll of TP. LOL! It makes us laugh every time we talk about it.

Toilet paper ‘behind’…LOL
Sorry, there must be a little bit of a 6 yr old hiding inside me today. Just couldn’t help from snickering. 🙂
Judy Laquidara says
Funny! We all need a little 6 year old hiding inside ourselves and we need to let that inner child out on occasion!
Carol says
seems like you recently showed pictures out in the storage area of all the tp and that you wouldn’t need to buy any for at least a couple of years……….
Judy Laquidara says
Yes. I think there are three 12 packs in there and that’s added into my total.
Pat Anderson says
I haven’t done any research, but I used to buy toilet paper whenever it went on sale and my friend told me that was a mistake because TP is supposed to disintegrate as time goes on. I did notice the older TP seems to be “flaky.” It would be a shame if you ended up with boxes of fluff…
Judy Laquidara says
Not true. I’ve had some that we unpacked from boxes that were packed in Kentucky so that’s been 12+ years ago and it’s good as new. I did a little research and, at this site, found a statement from “the king of toilet paper” that says: “Paper can last generations and will only lose effectiveness if it gets wet or moist. There is no set expiration date.”
Linda in NE says
Don’t “they” say something like “go big or go home”? Vince has obviously decided to go big. 🙂 Anyway, you can never have too much toilet paper. A friend used to tell a story about how whenever her husband went to town he came home with another white 5-gal. bucket from Bomgaars and more packages of toilet paper if he could find some on special. She said the whole pool table was covered in multiple layers of toilet paper packages. I always told her that if the big EMP hit and I couldn’t buy toilet paper I knew where to find some….only partly joking.
Teresa F. says
I WAS going to ask what Vince ordered when he gave you the go ahead to order yarn yesterday. If it was the TP, just think how much yarn you could have ordered to equal the amount of all those big boxes of TP!!
Judy Laquidara says
Oh, no . . it was NOT toilet paper. He ordered something for some kind of electronics or solar panel something that he’s building.
cassews says
waiting for the potty jokes .. hahahahaha
Nelle Coursey says
That is so funny!! Maybe you can give it as Christmas presents!! You should wrap some and put it under the tree for Vince! LOL
Susan says
Re #19 above – just use it for wrapping paper. =) I agree that TP is something I don’t want to run out of. I don’t have a year’s supply, but I have … some. LOL
Joyce says
That is too funny! I wouldn’t have a place to store that much TP! I’d be using it for insulation…LOL
Kay L Ford-Sollimo says
I got a good laugh. Also order online to have a big supply delivered to my door- much more convenient than lugging it home from a shopping trip. However, the size of the combination of Vince’s order and yours would fill up one side of my garage!
