I am not a quitter . . with the exception of diets. I do tend to quit those. No . . into Day 3 and I’m still doing ok.
My August Camp Loopy project . . I quit! I started doing Mixology. There’s nothing wrong with the pattern but it just wasn’t a good fit for me. There’s LOTS of a half linen stitch, which ends up looking and feeling like weaving. I found it very, very boring. While I know that blocking does wonders for any piece, the linen stitch, even having gone up a whole size needle, was much tighter and caused ripping with the knitted sections. I went up another size needle and that looked way too loose.
All the finished projects on Ravelry were so pretty but this one just wasn’t floating my boat. I was probably a bit more than 1/4 done with it and I knew it was going to be hard for me to keep going with it. I had even thought of giving up and not making a third project. Another issue is that the Mystical Forest Shawl keeps callin y name.
I went through my Ravelry library. I need to use at least 1,000 yards and I need to use those skeins of yarn I’ve already bought.
I had already traded out that white on the right for a lighter yellow. Joji has a new pattern (as of July), Slow Curves. That will work. The pattern page says it uses 1,180 yards. I’m using the size needle recommended so my knitting will be a little looser and I’ll use just a tad more yarn.
This won’t be the world’s best fade but I think it will be fine. My colors will be:
- Daisy (a pale yellow not shown above)
- Harvest (the gold in the middle)
- Jaded Dreams (second from right)
- Snake (far left)
I’m glad I started over. Tomorrow I should have a picture of a little progress.

Oh I think your choices will be pretty in that pattern. I thought about using that pattern for Camp but decided since I was also doing a sewing camp project in August I’d better stick with a smaller knitting project. Looking forward to seeing yours progress.

That’s a pretty pattern, too. So you had to take out all that stitching to reuse the yarn? I looked at both pictures, and I do think I like the new one better.

It will be pretty. I am not doing Camp Loopy, but I cast on Slow curves night before last. I am almost finished with the second wedge. This will be fun almost like a knit along ;).

Oh by the way, I spent 2 hours in the yarn store 45 minutes from my house trying to decide on colors and promptly came home and changed my mind. LOL
