This is the kind of project I do not like but sometimes it has to happen.
When I’m trying to decide what yarn to use for a project, I may need three different colors but take 15 skeins to the house where I can spread them out on an extra bed and look at them for a few days. Those 12 skeins that don’t get used end up left on the bed, on the dresser, in a bag in the floor . . . til I can’t walk through the room.
Instead of going back to the main yarn spreadsheet and trying to find the various tubs that all these skeins go into, I’m going to put them in a tub labeled “Misplaced #1” and then “Misplaced #2”. I’ll know if I go to the tub where a specific yarn is supposed to be and it isn’t there, then I’ll have to look for it on the “Misplaced” spreadsheet and see which tub it’s in. Now, I’ll have to make a real effort to put the yarns back where they go so I don’t end up with all the yarn in “Misplaced” tubs.
I’m betting I bring at least four of these bags of yarn over here before I get it all out of the house. This is why sometimes it’s easier to order new yarn for a project than to try to put together yarn out of the stash but if that’s what I’m going to do . . why have a stash? I should have asked myself that question 10 years ago . . before I started all this yarn collecting.

That’s my problem with my fabric. I’ve continued to buy when I’m working on a project because it’s so much simpler than trying to find what I know is “somewhere” in this messy house! I finally got started yesterday, but if I spend a couple of hours a day, it will take me at least a year to get it all done….wish me luck!!

Thread (embroidery machine), fabric, patterns/books and yarn are my problems….it is so frustrating knowing you have “something” and can’t lay your hands on it.

You are so organized! My yarn is in bags, boxes and I have no idea where any one particular one is! Maybe when it cools off I will try to get my downstairs bedroom organized again! But maybe not half the fun is in the hunting! LOL

You could periodically come across amazing finds in those totes! =)

I just purchased a pattern that uses Linen/Silk yarn. I show that I have a SQ that I could use, but do you think I could find them!?!? Looks like yarn stash organizing will be in my future too. I am determined not to buy another SQ.

My yarn has overflowed all of the tubs. As soon as I can put my kitchen back together, I’m going to take some some of the boxes and fill them with the overflow. My goal is to use up several tubs of yarn and make my yarn room look nice…wish me luck!

You could add a tag to each skein as you take it out of the tub and indicate which number tub it’s from. That would make it easier to put it back away.
