Last night, about 11:15 I finished Jurata. I folded it and planned to block it this morning. Then I took a shower and told myself . . block it now and it will be ready for photographing in the morning. This one is big and blocking it was a bit of a pain. I used blocking wires to get the points right. This could be my favorite shawl yet.
This is an inside picture and the colors aren’t very close on this one. The colors are pretty close to exact on the photos below.
Now I’m really ready for colder weather so I can wear this one.
I bought this pattern as soon as it came out (July, 2017). Several times I’ve started to make it and decided it was too hard. I knew it wasn’t really hard but thought it would take much more “paying attention” than I wanted to do. Knitting, for the most part, for me is social. I do it with my friends or I do it while Vince and I are in the car or sitting and talking in the evenings.
Even the colors are perfect. I can’t believe how well they go together and how perfect they are for this project. Both are Malabrigo Sock. The darker is Solis and the lighter is Winter Green.
I started this project on July 2, finished on July 24 so that’s 22 days. Considering that I went to the doctor and got two shots twice . . once when I hurt my right arm; once when my left shoulder was killing me probably because of a combination of knitting too much and favoring the right arm and then ended up in the hospital for two days, I think that speaks to (1) the ease in which this pattern knits up and (2) how much I love this project.
Another motivator for me, always, is that there’s another project waiting that I can’t wait to start.
If you’re a knitter and love Jurata, I hope you’ll consider knitting it. It is really so pretty and the pattern is just a bit complex but very well written, easy to follow and there’s a good rhythm once you find it. There are a million things I want to knit but I could definitely see myself knitting this one again.
This is my Camp Loopy project for July and I’m happy to have it finished on time!
