Our Tuesday knitting group is a bunch of funny ladies. We have such a good time. We’re kind of a rag tag group and sometimes I look at us and wonder how we all got together. Bethany was in the quilt guild and I had met her there. She and I were talking on Facebook over a year ago and wishing we had a knitting group and decided to start one. She was friends with the wonderful people who own the Common Grounds Coffee Shop and she said she would speak to them about letting us meet there and, they said YES and the rest is history.
My friend goes, a couple of other quilting knitters have joined. We have a few people I had never met before but we are such a good group. If there’s 8 or 9 of us there, we usually have at least four conversations going on and all of us are participating in all the conversations.
Today we were especially funny. I think we all laughed a lot and most of us really need a few hours of laughter.
Everyone was laughing and talking. I was trying so hard to finish my shawl. I think I netted about a 2 row increase over a three hour period. I ripped back more than I went forward. I just cannot knit anything there that requires paying attention because the conversations are so interesting. I’m there for the fun and fellowship . . not so much the actual knitting.
Let’s hope I can finish the shawl before I go to bed tonight.

I have a small group that started as a quilt group, but now is whatever works: knitting, beading, quilting… It is so much fun, and I learn so much (sometimes even about quilting)! It really feeds my soul, and I missed it when I couldn’t go (we meet once a month). Our hostess was talking about the history of women’s groups, such as quilting or sewing bees. She believes that, sure, there was always the purpose of accomplishing something, but it was just as important for the fellowship.
I used to be in a neighborhood group, but six or eight of the women had pre-existing friendships. Chris and I were newcomers, and while the quilting was great (we made several group quilts, and experimented with dyeing/coloring techniques at one’s barn), we never fit right into the grooves. We all (as far as I know) let it go.

That sounds like a great group, and how nice the business lets you meet there. I don’t drink it, but I think it smells good, though not tempting. =)

Sounds a lot like my small quilting group. Most times there’s 5 to 8 of us. Sometimes we accomplish something and other times it’s more visiting and laughter…followed by food.

We knit at church and we find we cannot do any knitting that requires your full attention. We knit simple projects at church one that you can talk and laugh and not make mistakes with, A lot of baby hats for the NICU are made at our knitting time at church.
