The recipe I used for the braided bread is this King Arthur recipe: Crusty Old World Sesame Braid. My kitchen was quite warm and it almost sat out rising too long. I had two pans of lasagna baking at 375° and the bread needed to bake at 425°.
There’s an Italian restaurant in Brady that serves the most delicious rolls and I was hoping for a recipe similar to their rolls and this bread is very close.
It was funny . I was working on it and had just set it ou to rise.
Vince walked in and looked at it. He said “Is it plain bread?” I wanted to say “No, dear. Plain bread is two loaves for $1 at the discount bread store! It was about 1 a.m. when I started the poolish for this bread. No . . it is not plain bread. I guess he saw the look on my face and he said “No . . I meant . . plain as opposed to salt rising or sourdough!” OK . . then, yes, it’s plain bread!
It really is a good recipe and not hard at all.

Thanks for the great recipe! I need to make bread tomorrow after church, so I’m heading to the kitchen right now (11:37 PM) to make the poolish. I LOVE sesame seeds on bread, so this has to be great! I’ll let you know how it turns out.

I sure hope you are baking this outside in your sun oven.. heck, you can probably put it on the tin roof next to cat and it will bake.

Judy, Your bread looks wonderful. Is it braided with only 2 bread strips instead of 3? That would be easier and I think it still looks beautiful. Thanks for the link to the recipe.

It looks so beautiful! If I braided it, there would be lumps. LOL
