Music to my ears! Yesterday we got this from the electric company.
Today between 2 and 6, they want us to conserve electricity. The more we conserve, the more we’re putting back on the grid. The more I sit in my chair and knit, the more electricity I save! No cooking, no running the dishwasher, no putting clothes in the washer or dryer (even though my dryer is gas . . they say turn off the dryer!).
I took smoked turkey out of the freezer so I’m going to make salads with turkey, eggs I boiled this morning, avocado, bacon, tomatoes, cucumbers, sprinkle some freeze dried onions on top, make a little ranch type dressing and no cooking!
I will raise the thermostat . . I won’t like it but I’ll do it. Maybe I can even get Vince to turn off the TV. OK . . now I’m pushing my luck.
The freeze dryer finished the mushrooms this morning and I have figs to go into the freeze dryer but I’ll wait til tomorrow morning to start them. The freeze dryer does take a bit of electricity.
I’ll turn the air up in the sewing room since the freeze dryer won’t be running, turn off the computer in there, turn off my computers in the house and, I think that’s about all I can do to conserve.
It’s going to be a hot day . . supposed to feel like 111° or 112° last I heard. The forecast is the same for Friday so I guess if they ask us to conserve on Friday, I’ll put off putting the figs in the freeze dryer til Saturday.

This may sound crazy but that’s the same heat index we are going to have the next couple of days. And that’s good ole Missouri!!!!
Judy Laquidara says
Yes, I remember some miserably hot days there but at least it’s a few weeks there where it’s about 3 – 4 months here.

You’re so good!! I guess I figure I don’t use much electricity since it’s just me and I don’t cook, only wash clothes about once a week and keep the thermostat up pretty much all the time (78) in addition to 2 ceiling fans running. But I DO watch TV and use the puter. Those two I’m NOT giving up!! LOL

Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be 108 here! We are in a heat advisory alert here. No kidding!!

I guess since you are putting electricity into the system, the less you use, the more solar goes in for them to use? Didn’t you say something about a balance you have to keep, though? Well, I’m glad I don’t have to figure it out! KUB hasn’t sent one of those here. We’re having a milder summer than I expected, 90 tomorrow, but mostly in the low to mid-80s in July – just a few days of 90. And even the humidity isn’t so bad at that rate. We’ve had several days where it was only in the 50 percents in the middle of the day. I better knock really hard on some wood!
