It was kinda exciting to get up and be able to make English Muffin sandwiches for breakfast using homemade muffins and eggs from our chickens. Yep . . doesn’t take much to excite me.
Sitting at the table, I was saying . . I wish we had our own pig and we could have homemade ham. Vince said “You’re living in the wrong days. But you wouldn’t have made it back in the era where you’re better suited because take away the indoor plumbing and air conditioning and you would have wanted to be a city girl.”
Maybe he’s right . . maybe you don’t miss what you never had. My grandparents didn’t have indoor plumbing or air conditioning til I was probably in middle school and I loved spending my summers there . . with the milk cow, the pig they were raising to be butchered, the garden, the chickens. I often think about the times before air conditioning. When my sewing room a/c wasn’t working, I wanted it fixed NOW but I think that had more to do with the fact that it’s supposed to be working and isn’t.
On this day when our heat index is going to be near 110°, I am thankful for air conditioning. But I’m also thankful for being able to have the chickens and for my love of making homemade bread!
Crazy .. before I even posted this, our air conditioner in the house stopped working. Carrier had an update and apparently lots of people are having problems. I’ve waited on hold 40 minutes twice to talk to customer service people, neither of whom were able to solve our problem. I think my 12 year love affair with Carrier my have just ended! 🙂

GOOD GRIEF!! NOW is NOT the time to be without the a/c! Ugh. Isn’t that a relatively new system? Hope it gets fixed fast!

I didn’t even know that air conditioning units could have updates. How does that work?
Linda in NE says
Apparently AC updates work just like computer updates of printer updates…they screw things up. I’ve turned off the Windows 10 automatic updates on my laptop. Seems like when it updates something changes or glitches somewhere.

Now is not the time to have a/c problems!!

My crystal ball says you may be quilting a lot in the next few days, if that one keeps working! I didn’t know A/C could have updates, either. I’ve never had one!
Claudia Duke says
Hmmm, my Carrier just updated too. I had no problem with mine. It just needs the filters changed.

I think most did but some of us weren’t so lucky and they don’t seem to have a clue how to fix it. I believe a good many people are affected and their customer service department seems overwhelmed. They told me they would get back with me as soon as they figure it out and so far, I haven’t heard anything from them. We change our filters once a month because it’s so dusty here so we’ve never had the “change filter” note show up.
