We’re seeing a lot of roadrunners this year. I just went out to move a hose on a fig tree and there was a roadrunner leisurely coming down the driveway. I was kinda hidden and it never noticed me, walked right past the fig tree and then stopped probably 4 feet from me. I wish I’d had my camera!
I said “Hello little bird!” I had to laugh. If roadrunners ever said bad words, I think he would have said one! It totally startled him and he ran off into the woods.
It was a young bird and fairly small. He probably ran to safety and was thinking “I have to be more careful of those sneaky humans!”
I’ll keep my camera with me every step of my day for the next few days and probably won’t see anything as interesting as that little roadrunner that got so close to me.

Roadrunners like to eat snakes, scorpions, and centipedes, so you need to encourage a few around your figs! 😉

Roadrunners are funny birds. They do eat the critters your friend describes above. That is a good thing with as many scorpions you have been seeing! They are really shy, but the way you tame the critters, it may very well come back to see you. 😉

I miss roadrunners! Not a Tennessee bird, by any means!

OMG this made me laugh out loud! Roadrunners are fascinating birds, aren’t they? And I’m going to giggle the whole rest of the day, thinking of that poor little rascal’s reaction to you! ROFLOL!!
