The Eat, Sleep, Knit KAL for this quarter is anything using ESK exclusive colors. This is a grouping I’ve been wanting to knit.
The colors aren’t right at all in the photo. The orange is more burnt than reddish and the light one has splotches that look more orange than pink.
I was kinda thinking about making Zweig, but I need to knit at least 800 yards to qualify for the most points and that pattern is 1,800 yards. Maybe I’d be setting myself up for failure by taking n such a big project. I can finish it any time before the end of the year but my sweater finishing track record is not very good.
Another pattern I like and want to make is Maythem Shawl. I think it would be good with those same colors. I probably have every ESK exclusive yarn from the past 6 years but it’s all mixed in with other yarns of similar weight. I dug around for a while, pulled out some of the exclusives and came to the conclusion that there’s so much darned yarn in here, so many projects I want to make . . I’m kinda tired of making something just for a star or points. If I make something for the KAL . . fine. If I don’t . . that’s fine also. I’m tired of digging through yarn and looking for patterns to match the yarn.
Tomorrow is a new day. We’ll see what I think then. How’s that for not making a decision?

That is beautiful yarn and a beautiful shawl! If you do that one will it count toward the KAL? If so that gets my vote. Getting points/stars for something you’ve been wanting to make using yarn from the stash? Win win! 😀

I love the yarn. Whatever you make with it will be beautiful!

If it is something you want to make because you love it and want to make it, then go for it! If you’re only doing it because to “have to”, then it’s not worth it.

I understand this because sometimes I want to just sit down and sew and not have a goal or a product in mind, just enjoy it.

Sounds like you’re catching on to retirement…
