Every year about this time, I miss my Celebration of Freedom quilt. This quilt was made in about 2005 for the Moda Challenge.
I no longer own this quilt. It was donate to an auction to raise funds for the Pentagon Memorial Fund. Since every year, I miss this quilt, I do want to make another one. Here are a couple of blog posts I’ve done about it in the past.
At some point, I started a second one. I need to do a little digging and find that project. This is from a design wall post in 2010. Not sure if I ever got much more done on it.
Thankfully, I have the old EQ file from this second start in my Dropbox files.
I think I want it to be larger so I’ve made a few border changes.
The finished size would be 95″ x 107″.
Maybe I’ll search the sewing room today . . looking for Celebration of Freedom and Christmas Town Sampler.

I love it!!!!! Perfect for the season. You have the most difficult part done. It is amazing what is buried in my sewing room, if I had that center, I would get going!

That is one beautiful quilt, looks like you have the “hard” part done, the center……Glad to see you are at least thinking about getting back to quilting…..Dot M in Hot, Hot Pa.

What a beautiful quilt!!! Yes, I can certainly see the reason for making another one.

Sounds like your quilting mojo might be returning.

I love this quilt. I can see why you miss it. I need to go look at your rough directions page to see what’s there.

I remember this quilt! And I remember thinking how in the world you were going to donate it to the auction! Yes, find the UFO!

Judy, this is an awesome quilt! Would you consider setting up the pattern for sale as a downloadable PDF? I think there may be enough interest in it, I would certainly buy it! Might be something Vince would be interested in, helping set up the computer details? Maybe set a date for a quilt along once people have had a chance to get their patterns, some fabric, etc? While I could sketch this out with your generous sharing in the blog, and I have your borders book, a pattern would be easier. Just some *random* thoughts. LOL Sorry about your arm, hope it’s better soon!
Judy Laquidara says
Not sure about the pattern. I think it was writing patterns and trying to check them and proof them that helped contribute to my burnout before so I’m not promising anything.
Dar W says
Ok, can certainly understand that. Don’t call it a pattern then. Call it “written suggestions” sent as a PDF for which you’d like a “donation.” LOL

It is GORGEOUS, Judy!!!

I am unanimous in seeing why you miss it. I hope you find the started one!
I find myself wondering if you found a print with those wonky stars, as I don’t believe you are a fan of appliqué.
Also: Bless your heart! (In the good way.) Seeing your quilting posts inspires me to get back in the sewing room, even for completely different (but still quilting) projects!

Beautiful quilt!!

I still like that quilt, whatever borders you use. I hope you find the parts, because the center seems the trickiest block and you have already redone it.

Beautiful!!

Judy, I remember this quilt, it was gorgeous! Out of curiosity, do you have any idea how much money the quilt raised? I hope it went for a lot!
