Yesterday afternoon before I started the next load in the freeze dryer, I was going to add oil to the vacuum pump. I went to get the lid off and Vince had tightened the lid and when Vince tightens a lid, I can never get it off. I was in front and couldn’t get it off so I went around back and was in an awkward position, twisted as hard as I could and still couldn’t get it off so Vince had to come do it.
After about an hour, my arm began hurting. During the night, every time I moved, it hurt. This morning, I could hardly move my arm. And, of course, it’s my right arm. Cannot comb my hair. Cannot do anything where I have to lift my elbow higher than about chest level.Let
Went to the doctor. He said it isn’t my shoulder, which is good. I was concerned about that. He thinks it’s a pulled tendon, gave me two shots . . his instructions were “sit and knit . . don’t do anything that hurts”. I’m not sure if he meant today or, for the rest of my life! 🙂
In 2017, I never went to the doctor once except to the knee doctor in Abilene twice. Now, I have horrible insurance and had to go to the doctor twice in one month. Let’s hope I’m done for 2017 with doctor visits.
I had planned to sew today but I know I can’t lift the iron and I surely can’t use the rotary cutter. So . . I will sit and knit.
I was telling the nurse what happened and she was laughing. I jokingly said “Do you have any idea how it feels to come to the doctor in pain and the nurse laughs at you?” She said “I’m only laughing because I could see myself doing the same thing!”
I’m fixing to go try to stir up a batch of salt rising bread. I know I can stir it if I put the bowl in a chair but I’m not sure I can stir it at counter height. I may have to teach Vince how to make salt rising bread! 🙂

Awe that is not good! Where did u get the shots? I just got one in palm of hand at base of pinky and one in wrist … right hand and refused shoulder shot no Thank u! Why is it the tendons at our age are failing! Boo hoo!!! I am so sorry you have to go through that!

I think it is a good idea to teach Vince how to make the bread. Then he will have a lot more appreciation for you! LOL

Hope you’re back to your old self soon!!! I know what it is to have your arms hurt that bad. I am a pianist/organist, and I had such a horrible time when my arms hurt. After playing for a church service my arm would ache for 3 days. I finally ended up getting a nerve block on a vertebrate in my neck. Supposed to last for 2 years, but it’s been 16 years and I haven’t had a problem since!!! 🙂 Hope your healing is quick and painless!!!

I know how you feel. I have been digging in the garden, shoveling concrete for the wood shed footings and filling the sandbox with fresh sand for our grandsons. Today I am taking the day off. My hands hurt enough that I know to take a break. 62 is too old to shovel a cubic yard of concrete into footings. LOL We are slowly recovering from the flood last year but it has been a ton of hard work. This weekend is going to be in the high nineties so I see some applique and sock knitting happening 9n the deck! Love reading your blog with my coffee in the morning Judy.

I certainly hope it isn’t for the rest of your life! I can’t open anything any more and don’t even try. One son gave me one of those strap things for jars, and that’s like magic, but I don’t think it would have helped you at all!

Oh Judy, I sure hope you didn’t do what I did. I have a torn bicep tendon. It is terrible. The things that are the hardest are putting on deodorant, pulling up my pants, putting the vehicle into drive, vacuuming…anything here my arm extends and then lifts or twists. I’ve had a cortisone shot twice, both short lived. Surgery is next if I decide on it. UGH. I still work and have ZERO benefits. Who can take that much recovery time off with no income. UGH. I sure hope yours is short lived. This is miserable.
