Yesterday morning I repotted a few plants. I love playing in the dirt.
These are six tomato plants that I started from seeds. They started out in the little six sprout containers, then I move them up to 4″ cups and yesterday repotted them into 1 gallon containers. These will be my winter tomatoes in the greenhouse so I’d like for them to be just starting to produce in about September. Their next move will be into 5 gallon containers and that’s how I’ll keep them in the greenhouse all winter.
Remember when I found ginger lilies at Lowe’s in Abilene? It was in early May as I recall.
They were outgrowing their pots so I put them into bigger pots. I’m having more luck with these in containers than I am with the ones in the ground.
These are growing quite nicely and I hope they will bloom before summer is over.
Last are the aronia berries.
They were tiny, fragile little things when they arrived the first part of May. They each had two or three leaves on them and were about 2″ tall. I didn’t expect them to survive but they’ve done great. They’ve put on new leaves and grown quite a bit. I repotted those into 1 gallon pots. They’ll definitely not get planted in the ground this year. I may keep these in pots and not plant them in the ground . . we’ll see how they look in the spring.

I probably need some bigger pots. I don’t have the 5 gallon size. The jelly beans are making tomatoes in 1 gallon size, though! Some of them. =)
