This evening Vince said he felt like celebrating . . long story, not ready to be told yet . . and he wanted to go out to eat. I said ok . . wasn’t hungry . . already been to town once but since I ordered the fermenting thing, and it will be here Thursday and I was dressed and had on makeup because of knitting today, I said I’d go if we could run by Walmart and get some cabbage and get a few of those cheap bottle openers for flipping off sealed jar lids. I probably shouldn’t say “flipping off”, especially the way this blog post is headed! 🙂
So, we went to restaurant #1 first. The people in there looked a little less “normal” than usual and usual can be a bit scary for someone who starts thinking about germs and hand washing, etc.
We ordered, I looked around and the place looked really dirty. The floor was dirty. The door to a room .. probably not part of the kitchen but it had sinks and a prep area was open and I glanced in and I was walking by . . should not have done that. I told Vince . . I don’t think I can eat here. We were the only customers in there (wonder why??). The music was so loud we could hardly hear each other talking. I went and asked one of the workers if they could turn it down. They looked at me like . . leave if you don’t like it so I went back to the table and told Vince “Get a refund and let’s go!” and we did.
We went to Walmart, then stopped by Taco Casa and got a taco and went home. Celebrate we did not do! 🙂
But, on the way home . .
Vince: In late summer or early Fall, we’re putting the house up for sale. I’m ready to leave here.
Me: Where are we going?
Vince: I don’t know.
Me: I’d like to know at least the area where you’re considering going before we think about leaving here.
Vince: You pick a place and we’ll think about it.
Me: MISSOURI!
Vince: No
Me: I’d like to rule out Oklahoma (sorry folks who live in and love OK)
Vince: Me too.
Me: Have you ruled out Louisiana?
Vince: Yes.
Me: Have you ruled out Kansas?
Vince: Yes.
Me: What about Arkansas?
Vince: Probably not there either.
Hmmm . . this could be really hard because I am not going east of the Mississippi River unless Chad does too.
Then . .
Vince: I would consider 40 or 45 mines east of Springfield, MO
Me: That’s still MISSOURI! And I do not like Springfield and if we would be seeing doctors and shopping in Springfield, then I’m vetoing that plan.
Vince: Or Natchitoches, Louisiana
Me: I thought you ruled out Louisiana
Vince: You’re playing word games!
Yes, this is going to be hard. Very hard!
So, now, he’s ready to go. I’m saying . . can we just wait a while? I’m not sure I’m going to be ready to leave here tis winter. Of course, you never know how long it will take a house to sell but I don’t even want to think about selling this house til we at least know the area where he wants to move.

Where you live the rest of your life certainly provides a rich topic of conversation for you two!
There was a Thai restaurant nearby that my husband liked, but I found the dining room to be dirty. I didn’t want to think of what the kitchen would look like, and never had an appetite there.

We went to a restaurant four years ago, placed our orders and just before it was brought to the table the entire restaurant smelled of bug spray. They brought our food, we declined and they had the nerve to ask why. The place closed shortly after that incident.

WOW I hope we didn’t put him off that much today!! Email me the name of the restaurant and I will never go there. I know the inspector for the restaurants at the county health center. I can put a bug in his ear. I don’t blame you for not naming them here. I don’t want to accidentally go in there!

I would want to have the rest of the plan in place, and at least a possible housing area to think about before selling my house, too! A home you love is a certain amount of security being traded for something you may or may not love. Definitely don’t want to underthink this. =)

You never know how fast a house will sell. The first house our daughter & SIL bought took over 6mo. to sell when they needed to move to another town for his job. They still hadn’t found a new house, but when they did they couldn’t move in for a few months so had to camp out in a little apt. with two little kids & a cat for three months. Most of their stuff had to go into storage, meaning they got to move it all twice. The cat ran away. Couldn’t handle apt. living I guess. Then after a few years my daughter found her dream house, and thinking it would take a while for their current house to sell they put it on the market. Sold in three weeks. Knew they couldn’t get into the new house for almost a year because the husband had left the state for his new job and the wife was staying behind until their high school senior graduated. Luckily someone they knew had a house for rent just a block over and they moved in there for a year until they could get into the dream house. You just never know how things will go.
