Freeze: 10 hours
Dry: 13 hours
It all turned out great. I ended up with 2 pints and 3 half pints of jello, 2 pints and 1 half pint of cheesecake bites, and 5 half pints of marshmallows rolled in powdered red hots.
It finished about 7 p.m. I let the machine defrost on its own, reloaded it and restarted it about 10 p.m.
I’m really anxious to see how the real food turns out but it will probably be Tuesday morning before it’s done and then we’ll pick something, rehydrate, heat and do a taste test!

You are set for snacks for a while! And it will look pretty on the shelves, too. =)
Jackie says
It sure looks pretty, I will be interested in how it tastes.
Jackie says
Do you reconstitute the freeze dried food or just eat it as is?
Judy says
If you haven’t already gotten some, you may want to get some food safe desiccant packs. When you open one of the jars, you can close it again with a packet or two to keep the moisture out. I dry things now and then in the dehydrator, and when I jar it, I add desiccant. Our climate is much more humid than yours, but it’s something to consider. I even put packs in my grains and pasta when storing them in the cabinet sealed in jars.
