Last night while pulling my hair out over the blog issues, I thought of something I’ve been meaning to ask you. When you leave comments, I try to answer them by email. I sometimes can’t at the moment, then I forget or can’t find the comments I needed to answer. Now that I’m back in the sewing room and using two different computers off and on all day, how do you feel about me responding to comments on the blog.
That’s kinda how it would look. It would be easier for me because I wouldn’t have to go through lots of mail to try to find the comment I think I remember I need to answer, and sometimes the answers might be what someone else wanted to know but you have to tell me you’ll come back to the comments and read them or the replies there won’t be any good.
I wonder . . do you get a note when someone replies to your comment like you can on Facebook? I have no idea. All I know right now is . . NO SWATTING BUGS ON THE COMPUTER SCREEN!
I’m in the sewing room now and this screen isn’t touch but there was just a bug on the table. I can tell you that I thought twice before slapping it. I’ll never hit a bug again without remembering the night of horror when my bug swatting took down the blog!

I think whatever works best for you will work for me.

Do what’s easiest for you. reply to this and I’ll let you know if I get a response. If I get a response, I’ll post another comment here so others know.
Judy Laquidara says
Ellen, this reply is for you! 🙂

I go for weeks without reading email. Unless you have hundreds of comments…I’d look back for a reply on the blog. But, do whatever is easiest for you.
Joan says
If it works easier for you, I love the idea of answering questions on the blog itself. Often others ask the same question I am thinking of myself, and I would love to see the answer without having to bother you again.
So glad you’re back!
Cilla Tyler says
I agree that an answer to one question publicly may solve a problem for 1 or more other folks. When I go to “confirm reply” I can click to see everyone’s response or not click on the box and not see everyone’s.
Judee says
I would love to see answers on the blog. But whatever is easier for you. In order for us to get replies in our email Box we do have to sign up to see all replies. Then the system will send us all the replies on the certain post.
Lisa Boyer says
I think answering the questions on the blog is a great idea–then everyone can see the answer instead of just the person emailed. Besides, it seems a lot easier on you, our favorite blogger! I have commented and have received emails from you, but I have never commented and seen your reply on the blog, so I don’t know about receiving notice that you’ve answered. If I leave a question, I usually re-check the post to see what the answer was.
Teri says
Whatever is easier for you! If you reply on the blog other readers will be able to see the answer which would be helpful at times.
Sharon says
I don’t expect a reply unless I ask a specific question. Save time and don’t reply to just casual comments.
If I want to see others comments I just select the box to do that.
Rebecca in SoCal says
I’m always impressed when I get a personal reply, because you get SO MANY comments! Sometimes, when I ask a specific question, I will check the box just below here that says “Notify me of new comments via email”. I then get an email to confirm that I want all replies, and when I do confirm, I get an email any time anybody comments. This works for only one blog post at a time, though! So I reserve it for specific questions (which sometimes are answered in a later post when other people have the same question)! 😀
Ellen Bencken says
Judy, I did receive an email comment from you 🙂
Judy Laquidara says
That’s interesting. Thanks!
Joyce in Oregon says
Public replies are just fine… I may just behave better. 🙂
Nelle Coursey says
Whatever is easiest for you. Would we need to check the box where it says to notify us by email?
cindy says
I have often wondered why you didn’t do it that way in the first place. When I leave a comment somewhere, I always try to check back to see if the blogger responded.

Whatever is easiest for you!

Whatever works best for you. I enjoy your blog and look forward to reading it.

Do what is easier for you, which I think would be to comment via the blog so everyone can see the answer. It helps that your comments are nested.
Like someone else mentioned, I am surprised when you do respond with an email, but then we usually end up with a long email exchange.
Donna Minter says
Either way is fine by me. Of course, I might not remember to look back for your response. LOL. I was glad I had your email address to let you know you had a problem. Made me feel better.
Pat says
I, too, think you should do whatever is easiest for you. My guess is that the blog answers would save you time and effort. Might give you more time to knit or quilt!
dezertsuz says
I personally don’t like it, but more and more blogs are doing it. I’ve even had to do it myself this semester or not reply at all. I do get an e-mail, but then I get an e-mail when someone likes a comment I made, and that drives me crazy because it just fills up the inbox with nothing messages. LOL So please DON’T like my comments! I don’t need replies, unless I ask a question. Do you remember that in the beginning, we didn’t reply, we just went to the other person’s blog and looked at what was going on there? I liked that better, but the world keeps changing, and today’s etiquette is to reply to things. But you never need to reply to anything, unless you particularly feel like it. I won’t feel neglected or left out. It isn’t as if we don’t have each other’s e-mail addresses and can’t write when we feel like it!
Pam says
I enjoy reading your answers and comments to the blog comments. We can click the box below this that allows us to be notified to comments via email.
Rhonda L Russell says
When I comment, I click on “notify me of new comments via email” so I can track if you have responded to my comment. I also like to read comments that others may have made regarding my comment. This makes it easy for both you and me to have a dialog.
Kathleen Schwitzner says
Facebook has a setting on whether or not you want an email for comments. So you get to pick.
My vote is comment on the blog – then we all can be part of the conversation!!!
