Just yesterday Vince had the back of the RTV totally clean! He even swept it out and wiped down the seat so we could ride to the highway and get the freeze dryer.
I walked outside this evening and said “WHAT the heck?” Then he said “Those boxes have your books in them. It was about 875° out there so I glanced in and saw this:
Back in my old life, I was in the Garden Club and a lady brought this cake to one of our meetings. It was so delicious and she gave me the recipe. This is the recipe she gave me, in her neat handwriting. I had lost it and I can’t tell you how many times I have thought about this cake. It is so delicious. The cake is probably great but the Dessert Sauce . . oh, my . . I could drink that stuff with a straw!
I saw another paper and dug it out.
Probably 35 years ago I worked with a girl and her mom had written a cajun cookbook. I loved this recipe for Wine Sauce over pork back bone. I lost the cookbook when we had a house fire in about 1989 or maybe 1990 .. can’t remember . . some things are better forgotten. I think it was when we lived in Kentucky that I called this girl to see if I could get another cookbook and she said she thought there were none to be found so I asked her if she would copy this recipe and send it to me. I’m so glad to have this recipe. It is going on my menu for next week!
So glad Vince was digging and found a couple of boxes of my stuff and I’ve been re-united with these long lost, and much loved recipes.

Wow. Those are not only recipes, they are good memories, too. The cake and sauce recipe does look like something I need to try … next fall when it cools off! =)

That apple cake recipe looks like one I used to make all the time. I got it from a sister-in-law who got it from her sister and it was called Apple Pudding Cake. Maybe I will have to make it again! I’d forgotten all about it.

Were your special rolling pins in a box by chance? That would be great.

No. I have all my rolling pins. It’s cookie molds that are missing. I’ve used them since we moved here to they’re probably somewhere I put them. But . . WHERE??
