Some days I look at my stuff and I feel pretty organized. About the time I’m feeling proud of myself, I do something that causes me to wonder how I’ve made it this far.
This afternoon I was going to make some components for Addie’s quilt. I figured I’d get those green star parts made first. I needed the Tri-Recs™ tool. I try to keep all my rulers together on the peg board.
Right where they were supposed to be were the side parts but . . where was the center?
These things come in sets. One Recs Tool. One Tri Tool. How could I have two Recs and no Tri? I started thinking about when I might have used them last. I made a Patriotic Star quilt, started another and was teaching this pattern in classes . . 8 or 9 years ago!
I remembered . . somehow . . exactly where the container was that had all these pieces to the unfinished top.
My Tri-Tool was in that tub. I don’t know how I remembered where I had used it last or where that tub was located but I’m glad I did.
I think I remember that I wore out one of my Tri-Tools so I may only have one left. I must be more careful where I put it.

I;m still looking for my Bonnie Hunter’s Essential Triangle Tool. I put EVERYTHING back I its home before I leave the studio, even if I know I will use it again tomorrow. Nope, 3 weeks and I still don’t see it so bought another.

I know I have two 60-degree triangle rulers. Can I find either one? Nope.
A couple of years ago, I taught my guild how to make a quilt using the same unit the Tri Recs make. Some of us used Tri Recs, some used Deb Tucker’s V Block ruler, and some of us preferred to paper piece the units. If you’re ever stuck, just print out paper piecing templates from EQ.

Even after a year in this house, I haven’t got my sewing rooms (2) organized..funny thing is that I have two Recs and haven’t found the middle either…maybe your mentioning this is a good omen! (I did have major back surgery so I have somewhat of an excuse.)

The fact that you remembered (which I never would have done!) is proof that this quilt is meant to be. =)

Looking at your picture I see the square spiral pantograph. You introduced me to it years ago and it has become hands down my favorite. Many thanks for sharing that with us.
