Boots is the sweetest cat. Even a non-lover of cats like me loves Boots. Cat, on the other hand, is mean and grumpy! I only like her because I feel bad for her and wanted to give her a good life but she’s just so aggravating.
I have not been able to touch her in probably two or three months. Once I first got her to where I could pet her, she would have nothing to do with Vince. He would try to pet her and she would run off but she was letting me pick her up. Now, she hisses at me and only wants Vince to pet her. She demands that he stop and pet her. She rolls over on her back for him to rub her belly. I open the back door. She hears it and gets so excited, comes running thinking it’s Vince; sees me, turns and goes the other way. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Yesterday I went out and sat on the ice chest that was out there. I sat for probably 20 minutes with Cat sitting in the driveway about 10 feet from me. I called her. I sat still. I begged her to come to me. She wouldn’t even look at me.
Boots has never been that way. A stranger could walk in and if they were willing to pet him, he’d be their best friend.
Yesterday I was finishing loading the quilt and wherever I needed to be, that’s where Boots parked himself. Right in the way.
I had been brushing him and he had static electricity and the computer monitor made his hair stand up! It was funny to see. He does position himself right where he knows I have to pet him or pick him up. Usually I’ll pick him up and put him on my lap, which lasts about 30 seconds.
After a while, I could tell he was getting agitated with me being in there and moving around so much so I opened the closet door and he hopped up on the top of the stack of quilts . . his favorite place to be when he wants to be left alone.
I think if he doesn’t see he can pretend I’m gone. When I’m over there knitting, I sit in one spot and he’ll sit with me for a while but then he’ll go sit in the window. I guess he doesn’t mind so long as I’m not moving around as much as I am when I’m quilting. He’s such a sweet cat . . especially compared to that other one!

We have seven cats and they all have such different personalities. When we brought home our youngest two last fall, Rosie was mine and Claire was his. Rosie wouldn’t get near him, let him touch her…nothing. Claire wanted nothing to do with me. Now it’s reversed. Rosie comes when he calls, but ignores me. She’ll let him do anything to her…belly rubs, scratch her back, etc. Claire sleeps with me, sits in my lap (when she wants to!) and doesn’t go near him. We have another, Simba, who won’t let us touch him…unless we’re laying in bed and the room is dark. Then he feels safe enough to let us pet him. He came from a hoarders house and we adopted him and his sister. She warmed up after a year and now wants our attention all the time, but he is still afraid, after 5 years. I can’t imagine what happened to him at that house! They pulled about 70 cats out of it…what a nightmare! We also have a stray from behind my office who is the most loving boy ever, what a sweetheart! Another, Ivy was taken from the city streets with a punctured eye and a fishhook embedded in her side. We had her eye removed and the minute you sit down, she’s in your lap. They are all so different! I’m glad you brought cats into your life!

I think it’s funny that Boots is so affectionate…for such a short time! Silly cat.

Just you must have made Cat mad by being gone or for whatever the cat thinks. Cats are fickle. My little Dusty Snow has a mind all her own. If I call her to bed several times, she will not come for any reason. Since she has started insulin shots every 12 hours she comes to me in bed on time for them. But if she gets irritated I just ignore it. DH aggravates her and no way will she come. The outside cats are a whole other situation Boo hisses at me every morning, Trick Now loves all over me and Treat ignores me. Little Girl only comes when I call cause her sons I feed she resents them and hisses at them before they were born and now they will be a year old next month. We have had her fixed now finally. Glad you are sewing again. I don’t get replies here you can always email me.

It’s amusing to see how different they are. And I liked that you spent 20 minutes trying to make up, even if Cat won’t have anything to do with that idea. Is that closet door glass?
