Who thought this wouldn’t happen today?
I love the borders but . . I do love borders. There are actually 8 borders on this quilt, which is pretty normal for my quilts, or at least the ones I made the last few years I was quilting.
That top is 81″ x 100″ and that’s a heck of a lot of standing and walking and my knee is letting me know that doing it all in one day was not a good idea. That’s the problem with Boots in the sewing room . . if I stop quilting, even if I throw a sheet or something over the quilt, it would be a big, comfy kitty hammock and would have a sag in the spot where he slept. Whose idea was it anyway to have a cat living in the sewing room? (It was mine . . he’s so sweet and I’ll never have a cat in the house.”
I think the backing is perfect! And I finished off the last of a roll of batting (Hobbs Heirloom 80/20) so that’s one more thing out of the sewing room.
The binding will wait. I left my Bernina 1230 in MO and that’s my favorite machine for binding but I’ve never tried binding on the Bernina 430 and I do have a walking foot for it. Who knows what I might do but it isn’t going to happen today . . that’s for sure!

So glad to have inspiration again! While I also love gardening and knitting, I sometimes need external motivation to keep moving on a quilt project, especially if it is one that feels overwhelming. Good for you for finishing a great project, and good for us getting to see it! Congrats!

I love hearing about all of your hobbies but I really miss your quilting. You have a great eye for design and color. Your designs are unlike any out there.

Know the pain with the knee when standing and quilting for the day. I have finally decided to get a new knee in a couple of week. Time for better things moving faster and with out pain.

So sorry to hear about the knee. I would wish for you to have the success I have with injections. Very true that each of us is different, I’m still getting shot on average every two years. The quilt, of course, is beautiful!
Donna says
Oh I miss your quilts. They are always so inspiring! I printed the pattern so maybe I’ll just make one after I finish the two I’m working on.

That’s great backing fabric. I could see the quilting in the blue border pretty well with the close-up and it looks good to me. I knew it would come right back to you!

I love the colors! So pretty!

So beautiful! Congrats!

My brother made two pieces of paneling with handles on one edge to put over the quilt on the frame when it was on it so the cat did not make a hammock of the quilt because I could not quilt it all in one day. Worked well. One long one would have been to heavy for me to lift.
Dar in MO says
Love your finished quilt. It is beautiful and the borders just make it perfect. It’s like riding a bike, it all comes back to you easily — and you don’t have to worry about balancing your weight on a long arm !! Sorry your knee is not liking the new exercise plan.

I know your heart isn’t into quilting any more but this is a beauty. I wonder how many tops you have that haven’t been quilted? I also enjoy knitting, but it will never replace quilting for me. Since my quilts are mostly EPP now, they take a LONG time to make so no tops waiting for quilting here!
