The month of June is now a few days more than halfway over so that means I should be at least half finished with my Camp Loopy project and . . I’m more than halfway finished. Considering that I was sick for at least a week the first part of June, I’m confident I can finish this on time. I’ve just made the last row of “clouds” and the rest is pretty much plain stockinette so I can do that while talking or watching TV.
Sometimes I feel like a bad blogger. I know, or at least I hope, that my readers don’t expect perfection. I often look at really nice blogs, with really nice pictures and lots of great information and I wonder . . why do my readers come back. I forget the most important part of the story and readers are saying “What?” (I will explain about watering the foundation in the very next post!). I think you, the readers, and me, the blogger, feel like we’re friends. Neither of us expect perfection from each other. If you were looking for a perfect blog, you’d have left me a long time ago, right? Don’t answer that!
Here’s what got me on that subject. I started this blog post on June 14. All I had to do was take a picture of my project. Every day I say . . I’m going to wait til the sun starts going down and isn’t so bright and I’ll go outside and take a picture. One thing happens and then something else happens and then . . it’s almost midnight and all I can do is take a picture in my chair with the bad lighting. Vince is already in bed so I can’t use the bed. The other beds have bright colored quilts so I’d have to lay a white sheet over the quilts and I don’t have a white sheet so I just fold up the piece and take a picture in my chair where the only decent light is.
Thanks for loving me as I am . . with all my forgetfulness and imperfections! 🙂
I’m making Walking on Clouds and here’s my progress – all folded up in my chair.
And here it is spread out more.
I love these colors together. When asked, I rarely say that green is my favorite color but looking back and the colors I use most, green surely is up near the top, if not on top of my most used colors.
In the photo above, on that green end, there are three sections with 24 rows of green garter stitch – 12 ridges, and then I think the last one has 36 ridges. I have all that to do on the other side. I’m halfway done with the first set of 12 ridges. I think I can do 12 ridges per day so I could be finished by the end of this week but I’ll definitely be finished before the deadline.

Beautiful knitting! I’m a long time follower and love all your blog posts on all your different subjects. I remember that you water your foundation but I don’t remember why. I know it’s important to do and that’s good enough for me.

I can tell you why I read your blog, you are real. You share a slice of your life that includes the highs and lows, the good, bad and ugly. Most blogs have become revenue streams as their owners have become designers, book and pattern writers, etc. I’ve stopped reading those, I don’t want to be sold to in my leisure time, if I do I will shop on their sites or on others. Even when you published books you didn’t do hard sell posts, you were just yourself. That’s why I have always read your blog and will as long as you write. You write as if we are your friends, not potential customers. So keep writing, please?

I’ll second that comment, very well said. Thanks Judy for sharing your story.

As Carolyn said, I read your blog because you are real……love all the stories you share, as well as the cooking, gardening, knitting/sewing/quilting. Reading your stories is like visiting with a good friend, having a cup of coffee/tea, glass of tea, etc. Reminds me of the days of old when people would get together to visit. Keep up the good work.

I’m with Caroline and Dottie, I look for your post first thing. When you share something that’s new to me I share it with my friends up here and take the liberty of saying “my friend Judy”. Reading your blog is liking having a really good conversation with a friend and talking about things that matter.

I like to see your projects, even if knitting is not my knowledge base, and I do think we are friends. Besides, you make me laugh all the time, and who doesn’t need a good laugh?

I totally agree with everything that Carolyn and Dottie said too. I definitely count you as one of my good friends and love hearing what you are up to. I look to you for many great ideas about how to try new things be they appliances, goods, plants and ways of learning how to do things better. Keep up the great wealth of knowledge and fun that you give us. Just wish you were closer physically so I could come back and see your “ranch/farm/orchard” in person.
