Sit down. Swallow your drink. Concentrate on controlling your emotions. I’m fixing to tell you something . .
Ready?
I’m going to quilt a top on the longarm tomorrow. Yes, I am!
Back in February, 2017 I blogged that I loaded it on the longarm thinking that having it loaded and ready to go might get me back to quilting. That was almost 1-1/2 years ago so I guess that didn’t help.
According to the above linked blog post, I made this top in 2012. Thank goodness for the blog. The top is loaded so I can’t easily measure the length but, according to the blog post, it’s 81 x 100. I need to cut the batting and get the top edges of the top and backing attached to the leader and it will be ready to go.
It’s hard to believe that I was quilting 2 or more quilts per day or a very long time and now I’m so apprehensive about using the machine. I can do this!
Cilla Tyler says
YES you can!!!!! A simple E2E to start. You go girl!!!
Wendy says
Take the first step – it’ll get easier from there – it’ll feel great to get it done.

YAAAAAAAY !!!

It will come back to you, I’m sure. This is why I play on the machines at every quilt show. I want to be sure I don’t forget what it feels like! I had a great time yesterday!
Teri says
Go for it!! That is a beautiful quilt. Please show us when it’s off the long arm. Are you thinking about maybe not selling your long arm?
Sue Edberg says
Yes, you can do it. Go for it and have fun.

I spent the day machine quilting today and I haven’t done that in a long while. Got my camp loopy project quilted and then pulled out the wedding quilt that I started two years ago. Quilted on it for several hours today and hopefully will finally get the quilting finished off tomorrow. (I remember when you made that quilt because I specifically remember the backing fabric since I had used some of that same print for the back of one of my quilts.)

Oh WOW!!!! This makes me happy. I wish you would get your sew mojo back and use all that gorgeous fabric. Maybe you should teach Vince to make quilts. Lots of engineers are starting to do it and love it. They also make gorgeous quilts because they are so precision minded. Love that quilt!
Kristin says
I agree!! My friend’s husband is an engineer and he got into quilting about 3 years ago and now has fallen off the deep end. He bought a Gammill and retired early from his job. He’s hoping to longarm quilt as a side job (probably to offset the fabric he buys!).
Judy Laquidara says
If Vince decides to do that, he’s definitely going to have to build another building and get his own longarm.
Sandi Bernal says
Yay!!! You have such a wonderful eye for color and design. You provided me with much joy and inspiration. I’m going you were able to enjoy yourself as well. Do you think part of the loss of mojo is because the quilting space is removed from your nesting area? Mine is only downstairs and there are plenty of times I avoid going to piece because I have to make my creaky knees tackle the stairs. Once I’m there, I enjoy it. It’s the “getting there” that’s hard.
Just a thought…
Kristin says
HOORAY!!!!! Good for you!!! You can do it!! You really shouldn’t sell that beautiful machine until you quilt up a bunch of your tops. =)
Tricia says
Maybe it’s like riding a bike. Wait. You CAN ride a bike, right?!
Judy Laquidara says
I could at one time. Haven’t tried lately. We’re not in a very bike friendly neighborhood with no sidewalks and the speed limit on the highway in front of our house is 75 with lots of loose rocks.
Wanda says
Way to go glad you are going to quilt once more. You’ve got some beautiful tips started.
Alycia Quiltygirl says
You got this!!!!
Paula Hidalgo says
Hooray, get’er done, I just took a 90×105 off my frame, glad to have it done and you will be too!!!
