This morning Vince and I met a friend in Abilene to get something she was sending to Nicole. From there, Vince told my friend that “we” were going shopping . . which means I was sitting in the car while he shopped. First, we went to Cane’s and had chicken. That was my choice. Then he went to Home Depot, then he wanted to go to T J Maxx and I said NO. Then he wanted to go to Target and I said NO. We went to the Green Grocery, which I love. We did go to Sam’s but it was a quick trip. We got in the car and I said I’m sleeping on the way home. Vince said “You’re going to the doctor. You’ve been sick for over a week!” Back home to go to the doctor!
Vince wanted to come back with me when I went to see the doctor and I said NO! I seemed to be saying no a lot today! I love my doctor. They were very busy and I was trying to be quick but he kept talking and talking and talking. Vince said he was getting worried about me because I was back there so long. The doc and I had a good visit and then we had to decide what medicine to give me.
Doc: Do you want a shot to get the meds working sooner?
Me: NO! (They charge something like $120 for an ‘injection fee’ and my insurance doesn’t pay for it.)
Doc: Do you want a Z-Pack?
Me: NO! That makes me feel worse than whatever I have.
Doc: What antibiotic works best for you?
He was flipping back through my chart and he said: You are NEVER sick! I don’t even have a record of having given you antibiotics in years!
He ended up giving me Amoxicillin and cough medicine. He said even with the meds, I probably wouldn’t feel a whole lot better for a few days.
Hopefully I’m on the road to recovery now and can start staying awake more.

I’m glad you got a medical opinion. There are too many icky viruses around to take a chance.

Just curious – did the doctor consider testing for tick-borne diseases? I don’t know all of your symptoms, but I remember you were exposed to the Lonestar tick a few years ago. My sister was feeling blah for a while and they did the test and found she was having reactions to several tick diseases.
Get well….

Did he say what it is? Is it a virus or a a cold? I hope you are feeling better soon! Being sick is no fun!

I cannot imagine shopping when you are sick. Like you, I hate shopping. I hope the only trip you have to make soon is on the road to recovery.

Well. I’m glad Vince took you, but it doesn’t seem like the bottom line is a lot of help. $120 injection fee??? I never heard of that, but thanks to you, I’ll know to ask if they want to give me a shot any time.

I hope you feel better soon, but if you have a virus, a virus will not respond to antibiotics.

I have a sinus infection too.
Jackie says
Hope you feel like yourself soon.

The last time I saw my dr was months ago and his first words were, “I thought you died because I haven’t seen in you in such a long time.” I am also one who tries really hard to stay out of the clinic.

Just in case you don’t know they are building a new Cane’s next to Olive Gardens. You won’t have to go across town.
