Even with the 100+ degree days, Cat likes to go upstairs in the shop and sleep. We leave the walk in door open til we know he’s out. Yesterday afternoon I had been outside and went to close the shop door but I hadn’t seen Cat outside so I was walking back to the house to ask Vince if he had seen Cat and I noticed she was sleeping on top of the well house. A met roof on a very hot, sunny afternoon.
I tried different angles to get a better picture.
Our well house walls are rotting and it needs to be replaced. That’s on the agenda for when it gets cooler.
I guess it wasn’t too hot for her up there or maybe she felt safe up on the roof but I would think this time of year, on the metal roof would not be where I would be sleeping if I were a mostly black cat. But . . what do I know?

When we had cats they would sometimes lay down right next to the woodstove in the middle of winter! Probably your hot roof is similar in the amount of heat. I enjoy the warmth, but that would be just a tad warm for my bones!! As long as he’s enjoying himself, I guess that’s what counts. If he was uncomfortable he’d get down….

Cats seem to like heat. When we go out in our RV, I will find Dusti up front behind our curtain which keeps the heat from the rest of the RV. Crazy cats!

Fang is an indoor cat but I let him out in the backyard when I’m out there and can keep an eye on him. Even on 100+ deg days, he’ll run out and flop down on the tile patio. And if I’m blow drying my hair, he’ll come in and wait for me to blow the dryer on him!! Goofball!

Normal body temp for a cat is 101 so they like us to sit on or the warmest place they can find

Perhaps something scared her and she felt secure up there.

I think cats must be cold blooded and need the heat! But I like your pictures!!
