Andrea Mowry has a new brioche hat pattern – Harlow Hat. She hosted a four day KAL over Memorial Day Weekend but since I was in MO, I didn’t want to feel rushed to knit something during a KAL (like I EVER finish anything on time anyway!). With my new fascination for brioche knitting, I couldn’t help but buy the pattern. After having finished Liquid Gold last night, I need a quick project before I can start Camp Loopy on June 1.
Most people are finishing the hat in 2 – 3 days but, “most people” probably already know how to do brioche. Starting it today is probably just opening myself up for another UFO but it would be nice to actually create a bit of brioche, even if I don’t get to finish it right away.
Another problem, or almost problem, is that I don’t have my stash yarn with me. This would probably work nicely though.
On the left is what’s left over from Liquid Gold and on the right is one of my Camp Loopy yarns. The project I’m making only requires less than 100 yards of the third color so I could make the hat and still have plenty left over.
I do think the colors would be great together for brioche . . but what do I know about colors for brioche?
As far as needle sizes, I actually have the sizes with me. It requires size 2.75 mm and I have those because that’s what I did the ribbing on for Winterfell Cardi and I brought that project with me and it requires 3.25 mm and that’s what I used for Liquid Gold, but I also should probably go down at least one needle size to a 2.50 mm and 3.0 mm and I don’t have either of those with me.
And, as I mentioned, I have Winterfell Cardi with me and I have several pairs of socks that are in various stages of completion with me so I might have just talked myself out of the hat but . . you never know what I might do for the next two days til I can start Camp Loopy.

Ahhh, decisions decisions….aren’t they fun? I have just as much fun with my rug hooking projects. No, I refuse to confess how many I have started. I do need several Finish Up Fridays.

Work on something you have already started. Then once you are home – you have your stash and can pick the colors you really want to use and you have something closer to the finishing stage.

This cracks me up… we have a new sock pattern coming soon as well! Of course, I just started on the Neruda shawl yesterday! 🙂

I like the idea of a hat to go with the Liquid Gold. That is a pretty brown, too.
