The practice flower girl dress is made, except for hemming and I’ll get that finished before dinner.
Aside from the hemming, it took barely 1-1/2 hours to make. The bodice is lined, and there’s a zipper but I managed to get it done and considering it’s been probably 25 years or more since I put in a zipper, I think it looks pretty good.
I measured Addie and according to her measurements, I should have made a size 4 but I went ahead and made a size 5 because the other flower girl is a tad bigger than Addie and I want to be able to try this dress on her also. The pink one is going to be a play dress for Addie since it was just practice.
The wedding is towards the end of October I’ll come back in a couple of months and get both flower girl dresses made. I’ll try this pink dress on Addie and the other little girl when I come back and at that point decide if I need to make a size 4 for Addie and what size to make for the other little girl.
When I was trying it on Addie to measure the hem, I asked her if she wanted it floor length, just above the ankle or what. She looked at me and said “I don’t know. I’ve never been a princess!”

That is cute! I got to be with my 4 year old granddaughter last weekend trying on flower girl dresses at a bridal shop. I did not offer to sew one, even though I sewed clothes for many years. She loves being a princess and had her opinions and had a blast. She tried on about 12 dresses! We finally bought a white one for $40 and blush colored satin at a fabric store for a sash and big bow in the back, which of course I get to make! If she lived closer I might have offered to sew a dress, but the next time I see her will be at the wedding in Maine in July!

She could grow two sizes between now and October! She looks adorable, of course, and I thought she was ALWAYS a princess! =)

Please teach her now how to properly stand.. No clutched hands in front (makes for a pooched belly as we get older). Arms to her sides, right foot slightly farther ahead of left. Always stand tall. I am still thankful to my fifth grade teacher showing us how to stand properly for photos. It looks like she will plenty of opportunities for photos.
