Do you all know that I’m the biggest chicken ever? If it gets dark and Vince isn’t home, I melt into a puddle of fright! More than actually being scared . . maybe . . I think that I’m just not used to being alone at night. Pretty crazy, huh? I want to be alone all day but when it gets dark, I want my protector here. Vince and I never go out (as in drive somewhere) at night. Neither of us can see that well, the deer are on the roads around here and we have chickens to be put up so we’re happy to stay home. That means that every night, we sit together for hours. We talk . . some, but he watches TV and I knit and we have our routine. I’m kinda lost without him here at night.
Last night, he had to go back to the hospital in a neighboring town for the THIRD time for more parts to the sleep study. You don’t even want to know that whole story. After doing all my outside chores, I came in, locked all the doors and knitted til fairly late.
I guess that was early morning email instead of late night email because the last email I sent my friend was at 1:41 a.m. We had storm warnings so I put my earbuds in and fell asleep listening to the old songs on the old iPod that I recently found. I was so proud of myself for having the earbuds in and not even hearing any scary thunder til I went out with Rita about 3 a.m. and realized the storm never got here. It did come through this morning about 8:30.
If Vince was gone at night a lot, I’d get used to it. I always have in the past. In Kentucky, Chad was home but Vince traveled with work about 60% of the time . . always gone it seemed. When we left MO to move here, Vince started here on May 1 and I didn’t move til August 15. I did get used to spending nights alone, though I’d prefer not to have to do that.
I knew Vince would be rolling back in around daylight and the chickens would want to be let out so I got up at 6:15. I think it may be time for a nap. Both of us are feeling kinda wimpy after not sleeping great last night then getting the second shingles vaccine yesterday. Yep . . nap time sounds good!

I napped a lot today. Not a good day for the allergies!
