And, hello MadMay! It is 12:01 a.m. on May 1 at my house and that means MadMay has officially begun. I told Vince I’m not doing anything in May except knitting. I think we all know that’s not going to happen.
I love Madelinetosh yarn. Well, it’s sometimes a love/hate relationship. I dislike that they don’t put weight on their skeins. They “sell by the yard” which I understand but when I see a pattern that calls for “non-Madelinetosh” yarn and I want to use Madelinetosh, it’s hard to compare apples to apples. If I knew that Madelinetosh “A” is 400 yards and 100 grams, then I know it will work if the project suggests a yarn that is 390 yards and 100 grams but if the project suggests a yarn that is 400 yards but 180 grams, then Madelinetosh “A” is not going to work but I don’t know the weight of the Madelinetosh yarn unless I buy it and weigh it. Frustrating but they didn’t ask me to tell them how to run their business so I just buy all I can and figure I’ll use it.
Anyway . . MadMay begins today and we knit as much as we can using Madelinetosh yarn.
I’ve already mentioned I’m making Winterfell using MadTosh Sport in the color “Dachshund”.
Second, I’m making Liquid Gold and I have no idea what yarn I will use. I’ve tried several and none thrilled me. There are lots of beautiful cables and I want them to show!
Third, I’m going to try to finish Lilli Pilli, an old project I started in 2016.
Even though the right and middle yarns were in the bag with the project, the pink yarn was nowhere to be found. I searched everywhere and couldn’t find it. I don’t know if I used it (I don’t think I did). I guess it’s just somewhere else. I’m thinking/guessing that I took the project with me somewhere to work on it and since I wasn’t using the pink yarn yet, I took it out of the bag and then at some point, I said “Oh, why is this pink yarn sitting here?” and I put it somewhere.
A little stashdiving and I came up with another option.
I think the red looks better but that’s pretty much the same colors the designer used and I hadn’t wanted to copy hers but I think these colors are very pretty together.
So . . how much do you think I’ll actually get done in May? My guess is Winterfell, Lilli Pilli and Liquid Gold! How’s that for optimistic? 🙂

I wouldn’t even begin to imagine! Can you knit while you’re on the phone with the electric company? LOL

Judy, I love all these ideas. I see Liquid Gold in a bright royal blue… but that’s probably because it’s something I have two skeins of on hand! 🙂 Nope, not even buying the pattern. It won’t spoil if I leave it there and I MAY just get something done that is already planned. I have a couple of new quilt designs that need my attention as well, so there is that. They both have deadlines in May, then I have one large knitting project needed as a July birthday gift. . Did I mention the new sock pattern will be here in June as well? Yikes, I better get off this computer and get busy!

I love your new option.

You knit so fast there is no telling how much you will get done. I have faith in you!
